Four-star South Carolina signee Shameik Blackshear was arrested on Friday, according to a report from the (Hilton Head) Island Packet. Blackshear, according to the report, was charged with petit larceny, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log.
Blackshear was booked at 3:43 p.m. on Friday afternoon and, as of 11:29 p.m. on Friday evening, was still incarcerated.
Blackshear was the first commitment of the South Carolina 2015 recruiting class, which finished No. 19 in the 247Sports Composite rankings. The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder, who was rated as a 0.9309 in the 247Sports Composite, has been rehabbing an ACL injury suffered early in the 2014 season.

You know, normally I'm not about giving these kids chance after chance. But this kid stuck by us. He was the first recruit we signed in this class.
No doubt, since it is a nonviolent misdemeanor, he will complete PTI and the charge will be expunged from his record.
Why not use Latti in a mentoring roll with this kid if we do decide to give him a second chance? Seems like Latti would be the perfect role model for Blackshear. Just a thought.

According to a report from The State newspaper, Blackshear is accused of stealing a purse and a safe from a Bluffton home with the contents being valued at $1,390. Blackshear was booked at 3:43 p.m. on Friday afternoon and was released on bond on Saturday morning.

USC released a statement saying they were gonna wait and let the legal process play out before making any decisions.

He's actually a good kid - I just don't get it, what was he thinking? Makes good grades, never been in trouble before, well-liked by everyone.
