Would you

A) explain that is a sum of the class' numerical rankings with no recruit having higher than a 1.00 point value (ie .947 + .921 + .887 + etc...)

Or

B) explain that it is a sum of the calculated points given to each recruit generated by the 247 formula? (Ex 4* safety worth 27.2 points)

Settle an argument for me.

I have no idea how 247 does their math but our average recruiting rank is above UT. We have the exact same number of commitments and they are ranked 2 spots higher.

VOLS have more top end talent (16 players at .90 or above compared to UGA's 12). Higher rated players are worth more points on composite, obviously. I think our average is hurt badly due to taking a P and LS. Taking them out of the equation, UT's avg composite rating shoots up to .91

We had 14 above 4 stars and you guys had 16 so that probably explains it. We had 2 5 stars and 12 4 stars on composite. We also took Tae Crowder late who was our lowest rated recruit so if we had kept Chris Carson we might have been slightly higher but I am not sure. Tae was an 80 and Carson was an 87.

I have no clue how they set that up. It has to be similar to how the BCS code was written, the owner can tweak it to yield the results he wants.

You're probably right. I do agree with your original post that it doesn't make much sense.

I do like 247's way more than rivals' weird formula. 5.7 to 6.1 just seems like a completely idiotic grading scale.

I think you're going to be fine.

With nothing we're still at 238.

With two of the big three they're only at 240.

I've always hated the rivals grading scale. Ever since Branden Smith was rated a 6.1 I have been quite disgusted by Rivals. . I like the composite because it helps remove a small amount of bias from all of the services but none of it is an exact science.

I think they calculate players abilities, add in potential, offers by major programs, get the totals, than add whatever number is needed to make Alabama the # 1 class since the site is run by a bunch of freaking Gumps....

USC says hai..........
