Fran to A&M was a DISASTER

Not really I think. Fran knew Alabama was in for some rough years with sanctions coming and his stock was really at it's peak. He took a high money gig at a premier football school which was the safe play for him career wise at the time (or so it seemed). A few losing seasons at UA which he was almost certainly going to be struggling during the 2000's would have also landed him in the street (see Shula, Mike)

Some really bad moves I can think of

Eddie Fogler leaving Vanderbily for So. Carolina in 1993. He was a rising star at Vandy and went to a quagmire @ USCe which ended his career within the decade.

Bill Curry leaving UA for KY. While he did ok at Kentucky, this continues to be a baffling career choice

No Trent Johnson from Stanford to LSU? Dude had it made at a school that could recruit itself.

I don't really understand this one.

1) Stanford's academic requirements hinder all of their coach's ability to recruit

2) Stanford fans didn't even like him. This is the same guy who had Jeremy Lin beg him to offer a scholarship, but didn't see any potential

Yeah. We thought we were paying y'all back for taking The Bear.

That's two you owe us.

George O'Leary to Notre Dame...

Big mistake with the resume, but that didn't kill his career...he's done very well at UCF...and resume aside, he's still probably a better coach than any that ND has had since that time...

Just gave up another touchdown

Talking shite about a true freshmen corner? Yep, not premature at all.

Not really. Like Tubby leaving Kentucky for Minnesota he knew the writing was on the wall.

Tubby leaving Minnesota for Texas Tech is more baffling than leaving UK.

But the strangest one I have is Schnellenberger leaving Miami to get an interest in a maybe Pro team. They were never guaranteed a team, yet he left like he knew that it was a certain.

Firing Phil Fulmer, Hiring Lane Kiffin, and Hiring Derek Dooley

That right there, my friends, is the worst sequence of decisions in college football history.

I thought he agreed to coach a team in Miami but it never materialized.

He'd have at least one more title if he'd stayed at Florida. Probably more.

Al Golden leaving Temple for Miami may end up being a horrible career move.

If he does not win this year, I believe he gets fired. They were just hammered with sanctions, that he knew nothing about. He would have stayed at Temple, I believe he would have been able to pick between Michigan, Florida, etc.

Wasn't his choice. Some unruly fans rode him out on a rail.

Wade Houston to Tennessee (by taking a HC position at UT that he wasn't ready for, he ruined his career).

Fran to aTm

Mike Leach to WSU (could have sat awhile and found a better fit...

Dinardo to LSU (could have stayed at Vandy for decades cranking out 5 win seasons).

Petrino to Harley dealership ('nuf said)

Nick Saban saying No to Texas. Couldve went down as the all time greatest college coach in the history of the sport. Now he will be remembered as the 2nd best of his little era.
