Same Vols who have begged me to buy 3 game ticket packs the last 5 years because they can't sell all their season tickets even for games like Bama, UGA and Florida? You guys bailed on your program like rats from a sinking ship the last 5 years. Please don't try to talk about this like you have been showing up even during down times.

I hate these "raw" numbers comparisons of attendance, because they imply that having a higher number means you have better fans, when it just means you have a bigger stadium. I'd like to see comparisons of % of total tickets sold per game.

You can't compare Bryant Denny to the Ole Miss stadium, because BDS holds 40k more people.

Yeah, OK.

Avg Attendance by year:

'14 - 7th
'13 - 6th
'12 - 8th
'11 - 6th
'10 - 6th
'09 - 5th
'08 - 4th
'07 - 4th

Besides, I was a student from the '10 season to the '14 season, so you personally attacking my Vol Support is aggresively retarded.

Not yours specifically, but Tennessee's in general, yes.

Yea, it did totally happen. I bought tickets to the 2010 Alabama game through the UTAD (like I would a minor league baseball game) and so I have received all the "PLEASE BUY OUR TICKETS" emails ever since. Season ticket packs in the lower level end zone still available in August. Individual game tickets to SEC games the week of the game. Group "discount" rates for OOC games selling blocks of 5-10. Etc. Etc. Etc.

You can post those numbers all you want, you and I both know that stadium was at MAX 80-85% full for most of the OOC games and many of the UK/Vandy type games the last 3-4 years until this season. And that doesn't even mention allowing 30K Alabama folks to take over in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

I'm glad UT folks are excited again, but all this "best fan base in the nation" stuff that has been passed around lately is utter hilarity.

Only 1,100 more a game and we'd be number 1.

You know this from experience? I can guarantee you Ive been to more UT games than you in the past 5 years and the season opener is always 97%+ filled up with a small dropoff for the second game. The UF, UGA, and Bama games are always sold out. And the past 5 years, the late season games (UF, Vandy, and Mizzou) have had implications on our postseason so we filled the stadium for those too.

UT fans have been through hell with our program lately and yet have provided unwavering support. A fanbase shows its resiliency at its downtimes, not at its best times. I'm proud of UT's fanbase for sticking with the vols during one of the worst periods in our programs history, and believe we are one of the best in the nation. Nothin like those fairweather Tide fans that'll disappear with Saban.

For one I read reporters accounts, watched games and have numerous good friends who are UT alums who bitched and moaned about attendance during the Dooley era. And like I said, I know for a fact the AD was begging people to take tickets off their hands for a solid 5 year period, and was dying from loss of their season ticket base.

Poor UT and your rough 7 years. Alabama people continued to fill up BDS and Legion Field through adulterous coaches, probations and any and every way you can destroy a program. And they kept showing up, taking punishment, traveling to road games and taking humiliation. But yea, theyl probably all stop showing up when we start only going 10-3 every year.

With that said I'm glad for you guys you are on the rebound. I hate you but if anyone understands your last decade it's Alabama folks. It makes the next streak of winning much, much sweeter.

Cheers

pretty much every fan base in the southeast is good, outside of small private schools like Duke, and Miami. Saying one is the best is splitting hairs.

Also hard to say it is a bad fan base if they don't want to watch bad teams play football, especially over several years time.

Alabama, post Saban, is going to enter some dark years. File away this post for it is a prophecy. the humbling begins soon. lol

Oh poor alabama fans hit with probation they totally didnt deserve. And Kiffin and Dooley raped our program worse than any of your adulturous coaches did. Besides, you still managed some SEC titles and 10+ win seasons over those years, so dont bruise yourself by patting your own back too hard.

Id say if we can get 60,000+ people for our spring game after going 5-7 the previous season, were pretty solid in the fan deaprtment. I'd say if we can get a sizable chunk of the stadium in Eugene, Oregon (over 2,600 miles from Knoxville) to be Bright Orange, despite having little to no hope to win the game, were alright in the fan department.

Except 98% of us already lived through dark years. Hell, for a lot of us, it was mostly all we knew until 2008. We'll piss and moan and fire a bunch of people and survive.

I don't really know much about Clemson of the early-mid 90s but we were great from 1991-1994 and a yoyo from 1995-2007
