Sec and national Championships do.
But you brought up Sweet Sixteen comparisons.

Banners hung in the rafters for Final Four and National Championships. It's the national standard in measuring basketball success. Conference championships pale in comparison.

Pecking order

#1 National Champion
#2 National Championship Game or Series
#3 Final Four in football or basketball. Played in CWS in baseball
#4 Getting and NCAA bid in basketball or baseball
#5 who cares?

Sure winning the SEC in anything is a nice consolation prize but Saban and Cal are not getting paid the big dollars just to win SEC tournaments.

The SEC Championship is awarded in MBB by regular season record. That championship trophy is presented at that team's first SEC Tournament game. The SEC Tournament is just that, a 4-day tournament for which a team gets a tournament championship trophy.

LSU has 11 SEC Championships second only to UK who has 45! Alabama has 8 SEC championships.

Alabama not even close to the top when you look at all three main sports.

Its LSU/Florida or Florida/LSU ......and everybody else.

Alabama and lsu have played 168 times in basketball.

Alabama has beat lsu 34 more times than lsu has beat alabama.

If lsu was so good in those 10 sec championship seasons, why could they only win 1 sec tournament?

Basketball

Alabama
0 national championships
6 sec tournament championships (2nd all time)
8 sec regular season championships (3rd all time)
20 ncaa tournament appearances, 8 sweet 16's
101-67 all time record vs LSU
749-568 all time sec regular season record (.568%) (2nd all time)
61-49 sec tournament record (.569%)

LSU
0 national titles according to ncaa (1 claimed before tournament)
1 sec tournament championship (9th all time)
10 regular season championships (2nd all time)
20 ncaa tournament appearances, 9 sweet 16, 4 final 4
640-630 all time sec regular season record (.504%)
46-54 all time sec tourney record
Bob Pettit, Pistol Pete and Shaq.

The final four appearances and three of the most recognizable figures in basketball history (Petit, Pistol and Shaq) from three different eras is what easily makes LSU the better program.

I'm not sure you would find one person that would rather have what Bama accomplished over the final fours and star power of the three greatest players from LSU. I applaud your effort, but you are just making a fool of yourself. And you wonder why we call you gumps.

Losing counts too.

LSU, Florida and Alabama have played The Ohio State with Championship implications 3 times.

Ohio State has only one win.

Facts show that Alabama has owned lsu all time when they play basketball against each other. Also auburn has 3 heisman winners to bamas 1. That mean they have better all time program?

[quote]OffroadSportsman89best all time in sec for combination football basketball baseball?I'm goin with Bama and lsu as top 2 all time.

Kentucky is best in basketball. Bama is top 3 or 4 all time in sec. Lsu also top 3 or 4 all time and has had better ncaa tournament track record than Bama but only 1 sec tournament title compared to bamas 6. Bama has 2nd most sec wins all time and 2nd best winning percentage all time in conference. Also holds 103-69 edge in all time series over LSU. [quote]

However, you conveniently forgot that LSU has been to FOUR Final Fours, four other Elite Eights, and four other Sweet 16s. And bama ????

Also, LSU's all-time basketball greats reads like a who's who in the college and NBA HOFs:
Sparky Wade, Bob Pettit, Pistol Pete Maravich,
Rudy Macklin, Chris Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal...

And bama?

I would put LSU #1, Florida #2, Arkansas #3 and bama #4....
