I'm sure he'll spend the entire offseason dreaming up all sorts of complex passing plays that Coker can't possibly execute.

*still bitter*

Success isn't measured by how you perform vs. the worst defenses on your schedule. Or at least it shouldn't be.

Any of the guys you had in the Saban era pre Kiffin. I'm sure there are plenty of those guys out there. Guys that don't try to be too cute.

Malzhan is a joke

Kiffin is a better offensive mind than Gus

That's why I believe by far McElwain was the best OC of the Saban era, he was more interested in calling plays that would work, rather than showcasing his cleverness.

In 2009 in a close 2nd half game against South Carolina he basically said, "Hey they can't seem stop Ingram in the wildcat" so we pretty much began doing it every single play in the 4th and put the game away.

He cared more about winning the game than showing off his fanciness.

None of the few losses in the McElwain era did you hear much complaining about the play calling after, there were other more prominent reasons the losses happened.

However in the Nussmeier/Kiffin era when you examine the few losses very high on the list of postmortem discussion is "Why the hell were we running those plays???" almost always trying to be cute or fancy when something more basic would have been better.

Lots of OC's have this problem. It's sort of an ego thing. They wanna show off their fancy guns rather than use a simple pistol to hit the target.

Glad to have him back. Another year like this one though and he'll be gone for a decent HC job. I mean, he made a 4th string RB look like a pretty good QB this year. I never expected he'd be here more than 2-3 years, but am certainly glad it wasn't just one.

NOt leaving.

Saban retired to the lake within two years.

Kiffin takes over.

Smart says, "But but but..." and takes something like the Fresno State job.

Or washes Saban's boat for him.
