Next poll, who will be taking handoffs from Jacob Coker? Will it be Derrick Henry, who is Tarzan in space but Jane in the tackles? Or Kenyan Drake, the explosive RB/WR with fumblitis? Or the young upstart Tyren Jones, who showed flashes of brilliance in the 3rd string role?

Your choices:

Derrick Henry
Kenyan Drake
Tyren Jones
Bo Scarbrough
Damien Harris
DeSherrius Flowers

Here is mine:
1. Tyren Jones
2. Derrick Henry (RB/FB, like Nudie)
3. Kenyan Drake (used more as a WR)
4. Bo Scarbrough
5. Damien Harris
6. DeSherrius Flowers (RS)

And the results are (with a lot less votes than last time)

Rank | Name | Avg Rank

1. Derrick Henry [1.4]
2. Tyren Jones [2.5]
3. Kenyan Drake [2.5]
4. Damien Harris [4.0]
5. Bo Scarbrough [4.4]
6. DeSherrius Flowers [6.0]

By mid year....

Harris
Henry
Drake
Jones
Bo Scar
Flowers (RS)

Unless Henry hits up the the squat rack like a monster all spring and comes in stronger from the waist down and able to run inside and not get tripped up so easily.

Henry "starting"/getting the most carries...around 14 per game.

Jones and Bo splitting reps after that... Jones around 9 and Bo around 6. This will fluctuate as they prove themselves or struggle.

Drake will be used EVERYWHERE. Carries out of the backfield as well as lining him up all over the field. He was getting around 5 touches per game last year and I think that would have greatly increased as the year went on. With the amount of guys leaving I would like to see him at 10+ touches per game.

Harris will be brought in slowly and really have to earn his carries.

He pretty much blasted this myth the last three games of the season.

Did he? He got his yardage on tosses and what not, he still got tripped up and what not when he ran between the tackles. Sure he had some good runs inside, but for the most part he does not play like a 240lb back between the tackles. Love him, big fan, think he's a badass, but damn if he isn't soft for his size.

I think he did.

He did the last three games, IMO. Also, people act like his size is a reason why he shouldn't get tackled in between the tackles, when in fact, his size makes it much easier for him to get tripped up or whatever. His size is an obstacle for him.

I disagree.

I believe his size helps him generate more force which SHOULD allow him to break through weaker ankle tackles, like Ingram was able to do. I believe his problem may stem from a lack of overall explosiveness. In order to run well between the tackles you need to either have great vision or great burst. He lacks both, so his inside runs are low percentage plays for us.

He's like a semi, meaning he is very large and needs a couple seconds to build up a head of steam. Once he does that, he usually drags tacklers a couple more yards after contact.

But, since we like to hit the interior of the DL a lot with our running game, I think Henry is a poor choice to fill that role. That's why I like Tyren, because he is more of an APB in my opinion.

My favorite running back between the tackles is Drake. That dude runs angry.

I think about halfway through the season, the staff will be comfortable enough with Harris in the 3rd spot, to play Scarbrough in Fowlers position a little.

Ingram is MUCH shorter than Henry. Therein lies the difference.

Exactly, because of his size.

I agree with Patton about Drake. People always refer to him as a "scat back", which he is not at all. He is about as physical as they come. lol at people that say we are going to move him to WR.

The Henry kid reminds me of Kerry Goode, after he hurt his knee vs BC. Takes a couple steps to get up to speed it seems. I think Drake could be a star. No doubt you guys have a really solid stable of rb's AGAIN.

D Harris will probably be Bama's most talented pure RB from the moment he arrives.
