ETA: I am pretty much copying and pasting things and only cleaning up writing for the preview threads we start

Hey SCarolina Team Board members! I am trying to get Auburn basketball previews for upcoming games. I don't know too much about SCarolina basketball and was hoping ya'll could help out.

This preview would look at SCarolina team and include:

Play style
Star Players (position)
Strengths
Weaknesses
Xfactors

How you do on the road (and home)

Excited for the matchup this Saturday and hoping some of ya'll will make it down for the game!

Do you think we're going to get confused by who you're referencing?

Due to the time it has taken to write a preview, yes.

Don't use what I say as your response. This is just a quick summary of what I think to get the wheels spinning in this thread:

Play style -

Star Players (position) - Thornwell (G) and Notice (G)

Strengths - Defense.

Weaknesses - We seem to suffer a 3-6 minute scoring drought in nearly every game. Not sure why it happens but it does. But we have been able to rebound (no pun intended) from it on occasion. We're not that good of a scoring team in general.

Also, our center, Chatkevicus has been really unproductive rebounding the ball lately which is disturbing considering he is 6'11

Xfactors - Pros for AU: It's at AU. It's on the road in the SEC and we're not nearly good enough to assume anything about our team. Also, I'm not sure if we ever beat Pearl while he was at UT.

Pros for SC: Michael Carrera. Guy pretty much won the 'Bama game for us. He's not the type of guy

How you do on the road (and home)

7-2 at home by a combined 8 points to Baylor and UF. Got some dominating wins over Clemson and Ok.State

1-2 neutral sites. Bad losses to Akron and Charlotte in Charleston but rebounded to 7 wins in a row including beating ISU in Brooklyn.

1-1 in true road games. Beat down Marshall, got beat down by Ole Miss.

GarnetWay I liked what you wrote and haven't had other responses mind if I use it unless something gets added?

Play Style

Mainly man-to-man defense, offensively we're much better when we play inside-out & through our concepts. If the bigs are scoring and being active on the boards we have a good shot at a W.

Star Players (Position)

Thornwell (G) & Notice (G)

quote:

Strengths

Great suffocating defense, ranked 4th in defensive FG% before SEC play. We'll contest mostly everything , rarely you'll have super, out on an island open look.

quote:

Weaknesses

Shooting the 3 pointer, we have no one that can hit it consistently and were one of the worst teams in the SEC at shooting the 3.

quote:

X-Factors

The play of our bigs, if they're pounding the glass and we're playing through them offensively then we're in pretty good shape.

How you do on the road (and home)

At home we've been really good, only 2 close losses to Baylor & Florida. 2 signature blowout wins in Oklahoma State & Clemson. We really have had 1 true road games except for @Marshall, which we destroyed, but they weren't very good. 2-2 on neutral court with a signature win against Iowa St.

Due to OP using what he did to address us here, I was deliberately going to ignore his request, as IMO it deserved being ignored. But, as long as other USC fans/posters here don't mind being talked down to, I guess other non-USC posters won't ever have a reason to stop....

Never had anything against South Carolina. Good family friend is a major donor and some of the best people I know. Also, Steve Spurrier is GOAT level coach which makes me root for South Carolina.

I honestly don't see how I was "talking down" to South Carolina. Was it the "USCe"? I changed that just in case. I only was trying to learn more about your basketball team for a preview. I know Frank Martin is a good coach but don't know much more.

Good luck with the game tonight and excited to see the matchup. Any perceived slights weren't intended and I apologize
