On January 12, 2010, Enos was introduced as the new head coach at Central Michigan University,[4] replacing Butch Jones, who left after three seasons to replace Brian Kelly at the University of Cincinnati.[5]

Enos has struggled in his time at CMU. Enos produced back-to-back 3-9 seasons in 2010 and 2011 . Despite the 6-18 record over two seasons, Enos was rewarded with a one-year contract extension in February 2012, extending his deal through the 2015 season.[6]

Despite a 2-1 start in 2012 and an upset victory on the road over the University of Iowa,[7] CMU again struggled under Enos, suffering a 4-game losing streak after the upset in Iowa City. CMU suffered a 42-31 loss to rival Western Michigan University which saw CMU get outscored 28-8 in the 4th quarter.[8] The loss was CMU's second straight loss to Western and CMU's record stood at 3-6. The following Wednesday, Central Michigan Life, published an editorial calling for Enos to be fired.[9]

After the Western loss, Enos led CMU to a 4-game winning streak and a victory over Western Kentucky in the 2012 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, CMU's first bowl appearance and win since the 2010 GMAC Bowl. The 4-game winning streak gave CMU a record of 7-6, its first winning record since the 2009 season, the last season under Butch Jones and with Dan LeFevour as starting quarterback.

Enos was again rewarded with a one-year contract extension and pay raise in January 2013, extending his deal through the 2016 season.[10]

Maybe he just sucks as a head coach

Enos has extensive experience on the offensive side of the ball, including serving as the offensive coordinator at North Dakota State (2003), the quarterbacks coach at Cincinnati (’04-05) and Michigan State (’06) and the running backs coach at Michigan State (’07-09). He worked for the Spartans until he was named the head coach at Central Michigan in January ’10.

He's not a bad looking fellow. Looks young.

how should I feel about this

not disappointed but not excited is how i'm taking it. same as robb smith. a lot of unknowns here.

EDIT: actually i was kind of excited with robb smith. this hire, though, my response is pretty much equivalent to the little red faced emoji with three question marks above its head.

OUT OF LEFT FIELD >>> GONE>>> GONE>>> GONE>>>> but is it a homerun or foul ball?

The University of Arkansas has named Dan Enos offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday.

Enos (pronounced Ee-nos) comes to Arkansas after five seasons as head coach at Central Michigan where he called offensive plays for the Chippewas. Throughout his career, Enos has a track record of developing offensive players. At CMU, he coached offensive tackle Eric Fisher, who became the first Mid-American Conference player to be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft in 2013 by the Kansas City Chiefs. At Michigan State, Enos was the position coach for NFL draft picks Drew Stanton and Javon Ringer. He was named one of Rivals.com’s Top 25 recruiters in the nation in 2009.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Enos joining us in Fayetteville,” said Bielema. “Dan is a great fit for our program. He runs a pro-style offense and brings expertise at the quarterback position as both a player and coach. We played against each other in college and he was a very intelligent and talented quarterback who showed great toughness and leadership. He has an outstanding reputation and will be a tremendous asset for Razorback football.”

Enos has history moving to a new environment with a senior quarterback. In 2006, he joined his alma mater, Michigan State, as the quarterbacks coach and mentored Drew Stanton, who earned team MVP honors after accounting for 2,252 total yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior. Following the season, Stanton was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the NFL Draft.

In 2004, Enos became the quarterbacks coach at Cincinnati and inherited senior quarterback Gino Guidugli. He helped Guidugli finish his career as the school’s all-time leading passer with 11,453 career yards, including 2,633 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns as a senior.

“I want to thank Bret (Bielema) for this wonderful opportunity to be part of something special at the University of Arkansas,” said Enos. “The challenge of winning a championship in the SEC and developing young men at the highest level of college football is very attractive. Bret and I share many of the same philosophies and I’m excited to open the next chapter of my coaching career down in Fayetteville.”

I guess I'm trying to say that his physical appearance won't provide the rant with as much ammunition as someone that has a physical appearance such as Chaney.

nobody, and I mean nobody had this name thought of at all. Unbelievable.. CBB finds a way to surprise at least. Both footballscoop and coaching search said, "Bret sure makes some interesting hires" and "never saw this coming"

From a Mich State board IRT Enos:

I miss Dan Enos

I know this is beating a dead horse...but I really do. Let me put in full disclosure by saying I love MD and this staff and think they'll be fine...its just Enos seemed to bring a youthful energy that we needed to close on recruits. I'm not going to lie, back when I was 18 years old I'd probably be more enthused to have Enos recruiting me over lots of others on the staff. I feel like you need a guy like that who can kind of bridge the gap between the older coaches and kids.

I wish him nothing but the best at CMU, but he was a closer. Period. If he ever leaves Mount Pleasant, you have to get him back on this staff right away. He owned Detroit for us.

That said, Go Green! Hopefully we get some good news after this weekend.

I like it that way.

It's like getting presents Christmas morning you looked everywhere for and couldn't find ahead of time.

I'm really surprised he was hired before NSD, and not at all surprised at a left field hire
