Why are Tennessee fans soo confident for next year?

First of all, every SEC team has plenty coming back for next year and every SEC team played plenty of freshman this year
To close the season:
They lost to a mediocre Missouri squad at home (all the freshman had plenty of experience at that point in the season)
Squeeked by a Vanderbilt squad that got embarrassed 51-0 by Mississippi State (rivalry game right?)
Then handily beat an Iowa team that was average at best and also got blown out by Minnesota earlier in the year.
Maybe UT will win it all next year but it seems like UT fans have caught an empty stomach beer buzz for beating Iowa.
And yes, I'm still not over the Ohio State loss

Didn't you hear? Arkansas and Tennessee are gonna run this conference for years to come. I mean, they beat Texas and Iowa

Yeah well we are now on a level that will be able to compete. Thats where we haven't been the past 8 years.

The SEC needs other teams to be good every once in a while. I would be all for a Arkansas vs. Tennessee SEC Championship as long as Bama beats Auburn

I would say most UT fans are more optimistic than confident. We have reason to be: improved record, improved in almost every statistical category, youngest roster in the nation, everyone coming back, top 5 recruiting class coming in........

Dooley was just coming off our only loss to UK in 30 years and a 5-7 record.
While we did have roster reasons to be excited that year, we lost 75% of our coaching staff that offseason to lateral coaching jobs and the teams play was declining.
With this staff we would have going 8-4 at worst with that 2012 roster.
This staff is actually pretty damn good at coaching, are they the best in the league, heck no, but they are good.

I wouldn't say "soo confident," most expect us to win 8 or 9 games next year, and I think that's reasonable based on what we have returning.
We can contend for the East, but that doesn't mean I would predict us to win it.
