How is the hotel situation in Columbia on gameday Saturdays in the fall? Do I need to book now for this coming October? Also, what hotels are walking distance to nightlife for guys in their 30's? Someone at work said 5 points is for the younger kids and getting dangerous. Said something about the "vista".

It's really nice at night, never saw anything shady near campus.

Hampton Inn in the Vista. You are within walking distance of dozens of bars and restaurants. The earlier you book, the better.

Hotels are fairly easy to come by but the one's downtown fill up quicker. There really aren't any by the stadium but it is a quick and cheap cab ride, though walking is a hike but not out of the question.
You defintely want to stay in the vista. Don't go to five points. Hilton or Hampton Inn downtown are your best bets but probably pricier.

Inn at USC is legit. You can walk to Five Points and you can also walk to this other little food district thing

Pretty much these.
There's also a full service Marriott and a Sheraton on Main St, with restaurants and bars around, but the Vista-Hiltons have even more variety around them.

Stayed at Marriott downtown, which was nice. Can get a taxi to the stadium/tailgating area.

Hey now, I am an awnry sarcastic a-hole versus a troll. And, I have backed off of the gamecocks this past football season - haven't you noticed? Now grant me access to your board.
Please.
Please.
