Can this hypothetical 2015 OL be serviceable?

Obviously Tunsil and Morris' rehabs (and fitness) aren't givens, but this lineup should be good enough if they return to top form.
LT - King Tunsil
LG - Rod (weight should be better plus the experience)
C - Ben Still or Justin Bell
RG - 2012 nonfat version of Aaron Morris
RT - Drew Richmond
Backups - Fahn (more exp.), Bouldin (strongest guy on team), Jordan Sims (staff likes his potential), Patterson (wildcard), Conyers (versatile backup)
I still worry about Luke's coaching - not sure his pro-style techniques are the best fit for Freeze's offense.

I like Ben Still. He's very underrated as a center. Not having him for the LSU game really hurt our offense

Conyers at center. Patterson is coming for a spot in January. Copper will start a RT initially because Freeze slow plays every recruit except Robert.

Maybe he was hurt or something, and he's not the only one to blame, but Conyers was whiffing on multiple blocks in the Peach Bowl.
Obviously the TCU game was a shitshow all around but I don't know if I want Conyers starting next year.

That's partly on Rod who was lost all day long. Then when Tunsil went down it and he moved to RT Still somehow looked worse. Again though partly the guards fault. Man what a shite show that was.
Basically center is up for grabs like every spot outside of LT. Matt Luke better get his arse in gear.

Justin Bell will be back too... He sucks and when he pulls he always misses his block... But he'll be back nonetheless.

Don't forget about Christian Morris, Jordan Sims and some of those guys.

I'm not worried about the line next year

I think he's very serviceable... he seems like Evan Swindall esque with a slightly higher ceiling.
That being said, I think the position is up-gradable.

Congrats on not watching the Peach Bowl - you didn't miss anything
In all seriousness, if we can get a few G-C-G players to step up, it has potential to be a good SEC OL.
Key offseason developments at those spots are obviously A. Morris, C. Morris, Rod, Sims, Bouldin.
I think the experienced guys like Still, Conyers, and Bell are serviceable but their ceilings seem low and I don't see them as ideal fits for a team with playoff aspirations.

We are gonna win the SEC next year

We can bring in all the top oline talent in the world and it will add up to a hill of beans if the coaching doesn't step up. The excuses of "we need better talent" or "we need to recruit more depth" is getting very old. Time now to start holding coaches accountable instead of passively passing the proverbial buck!

Aaron Morris and Justin Bell better get their asses in gear because I fully expect Rod to start over one of them and Patterson to compete immediately for the other.

I concur, but other than Rod and Tunsil, our contributors aren't exactly blue chippers.
It's a combo of things:
Talent
Offensive Scheme (we need a more true dual threat QB to alleviate OL pressure)
Fitness
RBs
OL Coaching

Conyers was basically the 6th olineman for most of the year. Rod probably the seventh. Other than those two, no one was reliable enough to plug in anywhere in the line. We saw what happened when Bouldin went in against LSU
Next year we should have at least 8 or 9 serviceable linemen once Patterson and Richmond arrive, coupled with the development of Bouldin, Sims, Johnson, and Morris

Funny thing is that a good oline coach can take your run-of-the-mill recruits and turn them into a dominate unit. Just look at what State has been able to do with the uncut diamonds they consistently bring in.
Now the other factors I do agree play a roll in things:
- A dual threat QB would alleviate some pressure in the rushing attack. This is why I would like to see DK really learn the play book/learn to read defenses.
- RBs with good vision and the willingness to plant & exploit a gap. Size is nice but it is not everything.

Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys even read what you post. Freeze play calling has been questioned even though he was without his two top wrs, and lost the best OL he had in Tunsil.
Some of you guys want miracles from these OL. As far as MSU, Mullen built his team for this run. Most of those guys had several starts. Ole Miss isn't there yet. So many of our fans however don't have the patience to allow Freeze and Luke to build the OL. In three full classes of recruiting (including the current class) he has gotten 4 top 10 tackles and 2 of the best guards in the country. I say relax. Give the guy some time to build the OL.

I just wanna see a decent run game. That's all. Is 150 yards a game in SEC play too much to ask?

Outside of a couple of games I thought the OLine was solid in pass protection. The issue with the OLine was the fact it probably was the worst run blocking OLine of a power 5 team.
