The new fiancé and I are looking at honeymoon resorts... The sandals resort in negril Jamaica is my favorite so far.. The lady likes the some resort called "secret vines" I believe in Cancun....

Anybody have any experience with either or just general recommendations?

Don't be resort people. Get out of the hotel and go do some cool local shite ad eat local cuisine.

Also, go to Puerto Rico instead.

well man keep me updated on y'all. This
Is the only thing I even remotely care about as far as wedding planning goes

As for the other comment, I did that when I went to maui this past summer. Not a chance. It's my honeymoon all I wanna do is drink by the ocean or at a swim up bar and have sex. I can get a taco in Mississippi. I wanna be pampered

Stayed right beside the Sandals in Negril at "Couples", was marginally cheaper, closer to the bars / local beaches and appeared to be as nice if not better. .

It was very nice, and was on the end of resort row so you can walk south down the beach to the clubs / restaurants. The resort restaurants were pretty good with European type portions / courses and the room was great.

There's a gift shop about 30 foot from the south resort wall. Find Bob the baker if you want to be hooked up..

We did Sandals in Bahamas for our honeymoon. Tip well when you first get there, otherwise you get shitty service and hardly any liquor in your drinks. Food gets old by the end of the stay, but it's not horrible.

I wouldn't do all inclusive again, but it was perfect for a honeymoon.

Oh, and make sure the one you pick is couples only. Friends chose one that was adults only, went right after schools were it for summer, and there were severAl senior class trips there. They said it was miserable.

My wife and I went to Punta Cana to the Grand Bahia Principe and I'm not sure it could have been better. We enjoyed it so much we're thinking seriously about going back on our anniversary.

The hotel and food was absolutely top notch and I've stayed in fine hotels all over the world with business. The there was a great variety of food with many different ethnic themes. There were a few days where we actually had to ask that they NOT put so much booze in our drinks. The beaches were beautiful and never too crowded. If you politely tell the beach vendors you aren't interested they'll generally leave you alone.

There are plenty of inexpensive excursions you can take off of the resort for a taste of the local culture.

I HIGHLY recommend it. I got a Groupon email the other day for an all inclusive to Punta Cana for $349/person that included air. You can't beat that anywhere.

Places listed so far. I appreciate all the help guys

Edit: saw where it gives you the option to list the amount of kids you're bringing... Were children being a nuisance an issue for y'all?

Some places to look for deals:

www.cheapcaribbean.com
www.vacationexpress.com
www.travelbyjen.com

Make sure you get transport from airport to hotel and back included in your price. Makes it much easier and well worth the $30.

Where is your wedding taking place? I ask because one consideration I made when booking my honeymoon was length of the flight there and back. That's what won out for The Bahamas. It was only a 2-3 hour direct flight from Atlanta. All the other places I considered were at least 4-5 hours, and some required a connection in Miami. Wife had her heart set on St Lucia, but flight was almost 8 hours if I remember right. I wanted somewhere we could be in a short time to start drinking and banging.

Our flight left Atlanta around 8AM and we were sitting by the pool with a girly frozen drink in hand around 1 that afternoon.

we did Sandals in Ocho Rios. We had a good time. For the money, it was great. But if money is not an issue there are much nicer resorts i think. Sandals is kind of the chain restaurant of resorts

Couldn't agree more, but I would say it's more like the upper-scale chain restaurants as opposed to the Chili's or Applebees.

We had a great time because all we wanted to do was lay around in the sun, drink, and sex it up. And not having to worry about what the food and drink bill would be on checkout was nice. I doubt we'd stay at one again, but it worked perfectly for us for a honeymoon.
