solid hires by Mason that might give him a shot at turning things around.

Wisconsin fans referred to him as Andy Dudwig.

There was a reason for that.

Not sure I understand why with Ludwig's offense putting up 2 of the top 4 offensive outputs in school history.

Whole team laid a dud vs OSU.

Well, that doesn't engender confidence. But we'll see. A couple strange blips aside, I think Mason has shown himself to have good football acumen.

Nothing will save Vandy under Mason.

He was also OC for David Carr at Fresno and Kellen Clemmons in Oregon so he has had success with QBs in his career. Stave had a solid Soph year but struggled this season, of course he did have a RB that put up 2300 rush yds and 26 TDs. As a team rushed for over 4000 yds this year and 43 TDs.

As an OC your job is to produce and I would say that by every realizable statistic his offenses produced with the talent he was given at Wisky.

Ludwig is a better hire than I thought we'd be able to bring in.

Andy Ludwig was the Oregon OC from 2002-2004 and he is absolutely despised here for his predictable play calling, as our fans originated the Dudwig monicker. Hopefully he works out for you.

Well, Coach Mason is old-school and runs the Stanford system, so Ludwig might actually be a decent fit for our offense.

I know that y'all already know a lot about McGriff from his time at Vandy, but I just want to reiterate that's an incredible hire. He was an awesome coach and an even better recruiter when he was at Ole Miss.

Mcgriff is a badass. Wish we could have kept him. The players and recruits loved him

solid hires. Ludwig got a bad rap b/c of false expectations for their season, when the reality was they didn't have the personnel to achieve what they wanted to. He can draw up plays. He'll probably go for a dual threat QB and a fast RB and of coarse need some quality OL.

Cautiously optimistic about both hires.

Doesn't matter... Until Vandy gets some offensive talent, nothing will change.

McGriff hire makes it pretty clear that Mason is going to be much more hands on with the defensive side of the ball (he called plays vs Tennessee). From that point on it sounds like that was the plan with this hire. Go get a guy who is a recruiter with that spot (he was lead recruiter for some of our best signees during his year at VU and was lead for 3 247 5*s at Ole Miss).

On O find a guy that had enough experience to lead that side of the ball and have control there. It sounds like Mason picked Ludwig over Roper so we will see what happens.
