It's normal to blame the black people.

Ellis Johnson is their backup plan.

Or tOBC was telling the truth about evaluating the situation after the bowl game?

Yeah I think Ward is an underrated play caller and he puts guys in position to win . I think he did a bad job of hiring assistants. Once he learns how to do that, he'll be a top notch DC. He should get another year to learn from his mistakes and right the ship.

I agree with the play calling part. I still doubt his ability to evaluate talent.

You gotta have talent to evaluate it. Lets face facts: USC lost a lot of defensive talent from last year...Spurrier knows that.

Recruiting has to be foremost at the top of the list....not golf.

The golf thing during football season and recruiting season ... that's urban myth.

He puts the golf clubs up from August - February.

With regard to Whammy Ward, we'll see how he does next season. The general consensus right now is that Deke Adams is the problem.

Apparently Brad Lawing is staying at Florida with the new staff, correct?

Whammy changed the defensive scheme to a 3-4 without a proven NT. He also thought we had a solid and deep enough stable of LB's for that package, but it ended up not being the case.

Scrooster, I agree. I saw total regression on the D-line last year when Adams took over for Lawing.

for the other guy, yeah we didn't have a dominant NT, but we had depth there, no solid DE's, and a lot of good LB's. He put the best players we had in position to win.

Seeing as how there isn't an opening for DC at South Carolina and there hasn't been, I'm not sure how Muschamp ever got connected to that job. Spurrier has been very vocally supportive of Ward.

I think the worst thing about the season was seeing ZERO improvement from the defense.

Texas A&M made our defense look clueless and pathetic. Fast forward 11 games and Clemson made us look even worse. There was no improvement over the course of the season honestly. Don't know how that's possible.

Honestly, this is what bothers me the most. I won't put the blame on the players or coaches because honestly I don't know where the problem lies, but to start from so far behind and see little improvement over the course of the year something is wrong.

TBD

Regardless, there are several defensive position coaching changes expected either after the bowl or signing day

eta- I'll be very happy if we can get Brad Lawing back as DL coach and said during the Muschamp saga that I'd rather have Lawing than Muschamp
