Everything Pearl says about a program, I don't know if he leaves. He thrives energizing giant existing fan bases and building programs. I don't see him looking for an established program

CBP isn't going anywhere. I agree.

I don't agree that we'll get the doors blown off in conference play if we play like tonight. SEC play has been a sloppy shite show for every team not named Kentucky or Florida over the past couple years. I see that trend continuing.

Crowd was decent for a stormy, Christmas eve eve midweek game. Guys looked they were already on Christmas break. I'm not going to read a ton into this game. We got it done, that's all that matters. I'll be a little more concerned if we come out flat on Monday.

I still don't agree.

Vanderbilt, MSU, Ole Miss, aTm, South Carolina all have better records but when you look at their roster and who they've played and lost to then it becomes clear that we can hold our own even on a bad night like tonight. That's pretty much half the league. Add in teams like UGA, LSU, and Alabama who have much like Auburn looked good and terrible and that's over half the league.

There's parity throughout the league and the reason I only see 3 teams from the conference making the dance since Kentucky will wipe the floor, win the conference, and the SEC tournament. (Florida and maybe Arkansas if they can finally win a road game this year being the 3rd).

What were you guys expecting this year. If AU breaks .500 this year, it's a miracle.

For a guy who went left like 80% of the time, CD3 was the fricking man. You have to be good to be that one dimensional and that good

IMO, we can get there if Pearl stays. He inherited a train wreck. Our talent sucks. He is trying to polish a turd right now. It will just take a few recruiting classes to get to where he wants us to be.

I hate this comparison, but Pearl is in the same position Saban was in his first year at Bama.

Yep. In the words of Pearl:

quote:

"It's going to need to be somebody that has the vision that Tennessee had," Pearl said. "Tennessee had a vision to try to get its men's basketball program to the level of its football program and where Pat Summitt had the women's basketball program. That was Tennessee's vision. They said, 'We're winning in everything else. We want to do it in men's basketball, too.' So that would be the job I'd want -- a job where somebody has that vision. It would almost need to be a school that's won a national championship in football or baseball. Somebody who's done it and wants to try to do it again in men's basketball. And I'm not saying I can win a national championship. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying it would need to be somebody who wants to try to do those things. Let's upgrade the facilities and schedule [national opponents] and engage the fans and be relevant. Just be relevant. That's what we did at Tennessee. I wanted Tennessee to matter to Kentucky fans. I wanted Tennessee to be a game Kentucky fans circled. We did that. And that's the kind of thing I would like to try to do again."
