I didnt think it was possible for SEC Basketball to decline any further but was I being overly optimistic about 2014?

Last year ended with surprise tourney runs by Tennessee and UK to top of a train wreck of a season for the entire league so maybe I'm being premature in writing the time of death

However, if we don't see improvement soon when do we consider replacing basketball with futbol? What would Ray Watts do?

Huh? It looks like the exact opposite to me.

Auburn still sucks though.

We just beat the brakes off of #15 Butler and we were picked to be next to last in the conference. So either we're better than people thought or the majority of the conference is garbage

I bow to your superior knowledge Belle although I do giggle when people say Cal won't be able to continue his "Platoon" play in conference as if they're about to face some group of death gauntlet. UK's entire bench and several walk-ons could start for Auburn and likely beat several SEC teams

Also, congrats to the Vols on the Butler win. That's big for the entire conference

Yes, the SEC is horrible. As it is every single year. We are so bad that we will only end up with 4 teams in the sweet 16. 2 teams in the elite 8. Two teams in the final four and one team playing in the championship game. This based on our performance in years past.

Aside from last years NCAAs the SEC is better as a whole.

UK is the best in the country
Florida will/is becoming a team
Arkansas and LSU are hot and cold teams
Vandy, A&m, and Bama look like solid teams
Tenn just pulled off an upset
Ole miss has some good wins

I think its reasonable that 3 teams out of this mix have a shot, plus UK and the gators. The Hogs and Lsu will be hitting conference play
with solid rpis, which will drop, but better to start at 20 than 40.

They're playing better but it's not showing in the win column yet.

There's slight improvements. UK is way much better than the team they were last year, and that team made it to the championship. Florida has had a bit of a drop off with inexperience and unfortunate injuries. Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, and Alabama have improved. Auburn and Missouri have been big disappointments.

I don't think Tennessee has "improved". Overall we had a much more dangerous roster last year. Doubt our squad this year is capable of duplicating a deep run in the big dance come march.

Did not mean to include you in the list. Should have posted you guys have pretty much started where you left off of last year. Overall, the SEC will be much more entertaining and competitive this year.
