I think his accomplishments are worthy of mention without having to throw in the bit about Alabama. He is probably tired of being known as the kid "who wanted to go to Alabama" imho

Try reading words. You might see it then. Philon is a better player and would be starting over Robinson right now if Saban wasn't a giant prick and hasn't pulled his scholly on NSD.

this is absolute idiocy. philon and robinson are disimilar players and our schemes are different. philon would be playing end for us (hes the size of allen and pettway, not reed and robinson). philon is 270lbs, robinson is 320lbs. robinson played NT for us most of the year, which means constant double teams, and he still got 47 tackles, 6.5 tfl, 2 pbu, 4 qb hurries, 1 forced fumble, 1 blocked punt, and i dont know why he is not credited with any sacks or fractional sacks because i saw him in on sacks during the season. also consider that he is listed as playing in 2 games where he recorded no stats, the season opener (played sparingly due to fall camp knee injury), and the Western Carolina game where he went out at the beginning of the game with an injury. Philon might start on our dline (would definitely be in the rotation), but not at robinson's position.

Thanks bama

Your dline would of been a lot better this year if it had philon. Glad your loss was our gain

A'Shawn is better for a 3-4 and Darius is better for a 4-3. Comparing Arkansas and Bama's lines doesn't make much sense, 4-3 DTs will typically have better stats that 3-4 DT on average simply because of the roles they play. A'Shawn doesn't have to have to get 10 sacks/TFL for the year to be considered effective and Darius doesn't have to eat up 2-3 OLs per play to be effective.

Benny schooling some bitches.

I'm thrilled for him and love what he's doing at Arkansas.

Good show sir, good show.

At the end of the day, the man had the ability, and put in the work to realize his potential. Alabama recognized that potential, but was in a different place scholarship wise at the time.

Again,

well that would be scary, because our dline was the best dline is the sec. more likely philon's stats would not look as good if he had been at bama, because he would be sharing time with guys like pettway, allen, tomlinson, hand. we substituted like crazy on dline this year, and other team's olines wore out before out dline did. going to arkansas was a really good choice for him, better opportunity for him

Well, in fairness, they got Tennpenny the next year as payment in kind and that has worked out pretty well for them.

The same a shawn robinson with 6 tfl and zero sacks on the year?

yep, same one that routinely takes on 2 blocks so his DE & LB teammates get a chance to do their job just like the defense is designed to operate.

Dick move but it worked. It kept Philon away Auburn, which is what he wanted.

I hope Philon does not jump to the NFL this year, he is putting his name in for evaluation.

We have him some help coming in for the spring semester which will make an even saltier DL.

birds of a feather. Why the Bammers and longhorns don't get along better I'll never know. They both consist of mostly sidewalk fans that never attended college but some how think they are smarter than everyone else. go figure.

These threads always crack me up. No interior DL (or DE for that matter) is going to put up huge stats at Alabama. Our DL is coached to suck up blocks and to keep containment and that frees up our 4 LBs to make the tackle. We get a great DL from time to time that can do his job and make a lot of tackles, but it's not often.

You seem confused. This should help:
