In a way it is a shame he was such a failure here at Arkansas. He was entertaining in an "Oh My God, how is he going to embarrass us next" sort of way when he gave interviews.

Made Les Miles seem like one of the great public speakers of our times.

Who'd have thought that Bert would be heading into year 3 at Arky without surpassing John L. Smith's SEC wins total

At least he made a bowl game, so there's that. Two SEC shutouts, a bowl game, and his replacement validating his decision by fleeing Wisconsin...been a good couple of months for Bret.

Good god I thought he'd died when I saw the thread. I really don't harbor any bad feelings towards him, the crazy codger. I see he's still coaching, he should retire (if he's financially able) and enjoy life.

Forever now on, John L. Smith shall be known as the former boss of Jim McElwain.

Chin up Florida and SMILE! Petrino was also once an assistant to Smith and he knows a little about football (well, throwing the ball on offense, anyway.)

Totally random, but I had just started to listen to Tom Petty's "You Don't Know How It Feels" as I hit your post. The actions in the second gif match up perfectly with the intro drum beat.
