The full column is Here. Excerpts are below...

quote:

That’s cute, Aggies.

Texas A&M will participate in the Liberty Bowl in a Dana Holgorsen-Kevin Sumlin reunion, which already has provided entertainment. It’s also the launch site for this year’s Mississippi State team, which exploded on Rice in Memphis last year before proceeding to a 10-2 season. Not a bad path to emulate.

But to focus on the matchup against West Virginia and the possibilities in the SEC West for 2015 is to ignore the obvious: the Aggies should be preparing for the Longhorns in the Texas Bowl.

Texas A&M, which deployed the Twitter hashtag #WRTS this year (“We Run This State”), reportedly pushed behind the scenes to avoid playing Texas in a bowl game. It appears that the SEC, acting on behalf of the Aggies, made it known to any bowl game with Big 12 and SEC ties that the conference would nix any pairing between the two programs.

- clipped -

As of right now, Baylor and TCU “run this state,” falling just short of playoff bids while Texas A&M (7-5) and Texas (6-6) languish in mediocrity. Even with Sumlin’s strong recruiting and proven offensive system, as well as Charlie Strong’s track record, both programs are behind the Bears and Horned Frogs on the field right now.

- clipped -

What happened to “don’t mess with Texas?” Isn’t this state the home of Remember the Alamo? Aren’t you trying to pump yourself up as the swashbuckling, Swagcopter-owning little brother now all grown up and ready to teach big brother a lesson?

- clipped -

Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather, anyone?

- clipped -

Texas A&M, grow some cojones and seek a game with Texas or shut down #WRTS for good.

Makes sense to me. I don't understand the deal with not wanting to play them. I'd hate to not play Clemson every year, both programs know we are each other's rival.

I 100% agree. If Aggies REALLY ran the State then they would play and defeat Texas to prove it.

Is anybody really that surprised that players and coaches from Texas want no part of that game? That game would require that they not be soft and/or scared. Charlie Strong seems like the only one who wants to play it. No coincidence imo

Would someone please post a source (besides Chip Brown) for this nonsense.

FYI Chip Brown is the Austin radio guy that also said A&M is NOT going to the SEC and Sabin is hours away from leaving Alabama and will be the next head coach at Texas.

Please, someone post who else is saying this?

BTW #WRTS

So we are afraid to play in a bowl that we were never offered a chance to play in because texass told the bowl not to offer us because they were afraid to play us.

Also, we are afraid to play them annually despite telling everyone we will schedule the any time and any place and texass repeatedly telling the media that they won't play us.

I'm sure glad texass keeps making it impossible for us to play them since we are evidently so scared

This is getting old

A&M won't play Texas because they're mad Texas declined a regular OOC game when Aggie was headed to the SEC. That's what a lot of Aggies on here say.

You are close there chief,

Our admins would clear a OOC spot for them any time now except Thanksgiving weekend. That offer was held open for 2 years and they refused.

We just don't give a flying flip about them right now, but make no mistake we would schedule them if they would wipe that yellow streak off their back.

Objectively, this is a wonderfully done troll by hornsdigest. A&M, who according to the longhorns website, had no say in the matter, is apparently running scared from a 6-6 team that beat no one. We can't prove the opposite because the big 12 has blacklisted any former big 12 team from playing against them (Neb, CU, MU, A&M), and have no plans to play us in the future.

And all the aggies on here bite, every time.

I think a lot of people here would really like to know why MU is scared to play Kansas.

Are Aggies claiming that the reports of the SEC blocking the ATM-Texas game are incorrect, or just that they didn't ask the SEC to do it?

Legitimate question, btw. Not trying to troll; just haven't been following it that closely.

Nice troll, OP. Anyone with a brain knows that article is bullshite and the idea of such was started by Chip Brown to draw some attention to himself. Yes, this is the same Chip Brown who said that TAMU did not have an invite to the SEC and that Nick Saben would be named the HC at tu any hour now. That guy, remember him? Google him.

The fact is that A&M as an institution has publicly stated that we want to resume our series with tu and our former Presudent is quoted as saying, "Anytime, anywhere." tu's former AD is on the record as saying that "A&M lost it's 'privledge' of playing the university of texas when they left the XII." Google it.

And tu is pulling the strings on not allowing KU to play Missouri.

But, let's not let facts get in the way of anything.

Vanilla, we didn't ask the SEC to do it.

Fact is that two 7-5 teams are in the Liberty Bowl and two 6-6 teams are in the Texas Bowl.

Cool. Bummer it couldn't happen. Aggies will get to enjoy Arky dropping the hammer, at least.
