Seems like the ability for politics and regional bias is ripe and couldn't the top four from the final BCS rankings be used instead. Seemed to be about right most of the time.

I've seen mock simulations of the BCS formula used this year that had the same top four as the CFP. Granted that was using the AP poll since the Harris poll is no more.

Nothing about the BCS was good IMO.

I think they got the top four right

Hence the reason why they are there.
The product isn't a clean champion. The product of the system is eyeballs, donations and publicity.

I agree and there's just something not right about a bunch of penguins in the business sector of the industry deciding it for us. Even if they got it right, it just doesn't sit well with me - the whole idea. And even if you feel they chose correctly, there are plenty of people out there who disagree.

There was something to be said for the mysterious and anonymous nature of the BCS. The computers were also a nice peace-of-mind in scenarios like the current one where there really was no right answer. There is a point where the ability of the human brain to discern becomes nebulous, and just the idea that simple data can be the demarcation makes it more palatable.

The rules that the committee are written so that robots could have picked the same top four. Just like the courtroom rules instructions for jury's are written that robots would give the same verdict as humans
