"...Another thing that bugs me is the fiction of Mizzou playing a soft schedule. According to Sagarin, the Tigers’ strength of schedule ranks 23rd this season. Now let’s compare that to the Sagarin strength-of-schedules attached to other prominent teams: TCU (31st), Oregon (34th), Arizona (35th), Florida State (49th), Ohio State (60th) and Baylor (66th).

Over the last two seasons combined, Mizzou has had nine games against teams ranked in the Top 25 at the time of kickoff. The Tigers went 6-3 in those contests; among SEC squads only Auburn (8-5 record) and Alabama (7-3) had more wins vs. Top 25 competition.

Moreover, Mizzou has gone 8-0 on the road in SEC action over the last two seasons. By any definition that’s impressive."

Mizzou has an extremely soft schedule. And they refuse to play a high level OOC game like the other top SEC teams do.

Well, lets look at the actual games...

(FCS) South Dakota State
8-4 Toledo
8-3 Central Florida
4-8 Indiana (lost @ home)
6-6 South Carolina
9-3 Georgia (shutout @ home by roughly 5 TD's)
6-5 Florida
3-9 Vanderbilt
5-7 Kentucky
7-5 Texas A&M (2nd worst record in the west)
6-6 Tennessee
6-6 Arkansas (worst record in the west)

Not real impressive there Sparky.

In fact, per Sagarin, Mizzou has the worst SOS in the SEC this year. Lol.

Yeah. Putting the whoopass on your division has a tendency to do that.

Texas Tech is a mid level Big 12 program. And I said the top teams, not last place Arkansas.

LSU played Wisconsin neutral field, Alabama did the same with West Virginia, UGA-Clemson, SC-Clemson, UF-FSU, Auburn @KState, Tennessee @ OU.

And then there is Missouri playing literally no one, trying to represent as a top SEC team, but not acting like one in the OOC. Missouri should be playing someone like TCU or Baylor, maybe an Arizona/ASU. Big 10 maybe, a Neb or OU game. Those would be frickin' awesome home and home or a single neutral site game.

By beating the 6th and 7th place teams by a touchdown? Lol.

To compare, the entire Top 6 SOS's in college football, are SEC West teams.

SOS Rankings

1. Auburn
2. Arkansas
3. LSU
4. Alabama
5. Texas A&M
6. Ole Miss

Just insane. Missouri played 1 ranked team all year, Arkansas played 8. Just no comparison. Auburn played 9. LSU played 8.

Yeah and even that was a bottom of the barrel terrible team and program that should have been a blowout.

You're not very bright are you?

When you beat a ranked team they have a tendency to no longer stay ranked.

When you lose to ranked teams (see Arkansas) they stay ranked.

I think most real MIZZOU fans would like to see an upgrade in our OOC schedule as well. the move to the SEC kinda put us in a temporary bind scheduling wise... but, we do have BYU and West Virginia on the upcoming OOC schedule which is an improvement at least.

Mizzou turned out to be a pretty good team. I thought that after the Georgia drubbing they would go away, but they continued to fight. I expect a good game on Saturday. I hope Bama is not too hungover from the Auburn victory to come out with some fire.

Good thing it goes by their ranking at the time they played so the outcome of that game doesn't effect it.

Everyone else is playing 6-9 top 25 teams a year, and Mizzou played 1 all year. It's really insane to think about and compare.

I also hate idiots that try and spin shite like that in the OP. The #23 SOS, but he fails to mention that's dead last in the SEC and that 8 of the top 10 are in the SEC. Rest are top 20 other than Mizzou with Vandy being at 18.

I don't doubt that Mizzou fans want to play a high level OOC game, who doesn't really? Just a matter of actually getting it done. Why did they have to settle for BYU were there other bigger names involved before them or was it all smaller schools again? Anyone know?

ETA: Is WVU a home and home? That's at least something assuming WVU stays relevant the next few years which seems likely.

And it's a majorly negative thing, Mizzou could beat Bama and still wouldn't even be close to getting into the playoffs. And it's 100% because of their schedule.

The SEC East champion should be a top 5-8 ranked team and a win away in the SECCG from being in the playoffs.

If UGA had won the East, and they were to beat Bama on Saturday, they'd get in the playoffs guaranteed.

Mizzou should be playing for so much more on Saturday I think is the main take away. Missing out on opportunities that don't come that often.

I'll give Mizzou some credit. Talk all you want about the soft East, but Missouri is 4-0 versus the West in the past two regular seasons.

Pinkel is the most underrated coach in the conference. With Missouri's recruiting rankings, there's no way they should finish ahead of Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and even Tennessee...ever.
