For those of you who have been recently, what's the best way to park, things to do before the game, how to get out of ATL after the game, etc. Will be coming down from NC with my bro in law, will be his first Bama game. Thanks for any advice...

I've never been to an SECCG but I have seen the Saints play the Falcons in Atlanta.
My advice is to take the subway to the stadium instead of trying to park there. Get a hotel room downtown and walk to the train station.

Parking near or at a MARTA station in Midtown or Buckhead and hanging out there before the game is what I've always done. MARTA after the game is kind of a pain though. We walked from the GA Dome to the 5 Points station one year because the CNN Center station was so crowded.

That's why you park somewhere that you don't have to go through 5 points.

So parking at a hotel close to the stadium is not a great idea? We won't be staying the night so we will be driving out after the game...

Park at the Doraville Marta Station and ride the train in/out Get off/on the train at Peachtree Center and enjoy the walk to the stadium. Great dining options along the walk.
If you prefer a shorter walk, continue to 5-points or transfer to the east bound train to the next station Dome/WCC. Those two stations will likely be congested.

Are you planning on tailgating? The lots by the Dome, I think the yellow lot, is pretty cool. Have tailgated there for SECCG and kick-off game. Leaving the stadium is not too bad, no worse than leaving Auburn or Tuscaloosa after a game. Easy walk to Fan Fest and stadium.

I always park at the Marta station either on the west side or north side near perimeter.
You get in and out quick, and despite it's reputation the Marta trains are fine. They will just be packed with fellow football fans.
Hotels on the west side past six flags can be had for cheap. Just look at interstate 20 and Georgia highway 6. I have stayed at the Fairfield and spring hill suites in lithia springs. They are both clean with restaurants nearby and easy access to interstate 20

MARTA. We always park at the outermost west station(cannot recall the name-Google it). Free parking. Get there a few hours before game time and you should be fine as it fills up rather quickly. It costs ~$5 for a round trip ticket.
