He loses that game with McElwain, Nussmeier, or any other coordinator who plays the conservative style Saban has made a living on. He knew Smart wouldn't be able to stop anything, so he had to work around it.

Props to the guy for finally being willing to change something in his coaching.

Agree on Nuss. Disagree on Mac.

Mac would open up when Saban let him.

There are too many good offenses now. No matter how good your defense is, you have to be able to win offensive shootouts.

I admit I was wrong about lane. I thought the hire was a sign of senility in Saban. But damn, Saban is a genius. I don't think I'd want saban for a friend, a brother, a father, or, if I were a woman, a husband, but I sure as hell would want him coaching my college football team.

Why? So he could chastise him on the sidelines and second guess every call?

Lane gone....his wife wants to go home.....and he is going to get the keys to the battle cruiser he wants badly again and with a ripe recruiting tree right outside his office window.
Inherits a very stout defense....and road map to Hotlanta.

You mean like Nuss did last year against A&M?

I never once thought about being his wife. Is this a fantasy, or something else?

Oh hell no! Lane is a fricking moron. Auburn gives up 30+ to everyone and with the players Bama has on offense a monkey could light up the scoreboard.

You're nuts. It's the same offense it's alway been.

Saban's.

We didn't stop anything? RZ Defense was only the fricking difference in the game and The barn left some 16 point on the board settling for FG's.. The level of ignorance on this board is mind blowing.

I don't know, but it feels odd and kind of tingles.

Then you don't know Coach Mac. Have you seen his offenses at Colorado State? Or when we opened it up while he was at Alabama? He was just play calling to an insane defense for much of his OC tenure at Alabama.
