Fire on the Mountain The Caldwell brothers were big Gamecock fans. A couple of the other band members were taterheads. Used to make for some interesting stage banter at instate concerts.
You can thank Toy and Tommy Caldwell for influencing my decision to give SCAR fans a pass with some of their dumb arse comments, God Bless the Caldwell boys and their families, RIP.

They change-but as of today:
Allman Brothers-Blue Sky
Lynyrd Skynyrd-All this Mississippi kid can do is write about it, but I'm always on they hunt for that smell of the next ballad of Curtis Loew. Their swamp music is like the needle and the spoon to me. This thread was posted yesterday, but Tuesday's gone, and I never dreamed that this simple man, who know's a little, would have to pick one whiskey rock-a-roller before taking three steps towards coming home to sweet home Alabama for Thanksgiving. Asking for one is like locking this free bird up in those four walls of Raiford or putting me to work for MCA. You might as well have asked on this board, "What's your name?" Don't ask me no questions like this, because I ain't the one to give just one answer. Are they one of the best southern rock bands ever? You got that right.
Answer-EVERY SINGLE DAMN ONE OF THEM
Charlie Daniels-Trudy
Hank Williams, Jr.-New South (On his best album, and from his best streak of albums-One Night Stands, The New South, Family Tradition, Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound & Habits Old and New)
Marshall Tucker-Can't You See

Ya know the trouble trying to make a list of favorite songs by these bands is the place and time you're listening to the song. My list is based more on a party vibe where you want a jam thing going. If I was picking based on pure song writing completely different.
Allman Bros.........it's Not My Cross to Bear
Skynyrd..... One More Time, Am I Losin, Made in the Shade (gotta luv me some Skynyrd)
CDB....Cumberland Mountain #9, Sweetwater Tx, It's My life> (played that at a good friends funeral)
Hank Jr......, The man has made so many damn records it would take a month of going back and listening to pick my favorites, the true originator of Outlaw Country with no disrespect to Mr Coe, Jennings, Nelson, etc.

You obviously just heard the later Hank stuff and I like The Band, but not sure what they have to do with this thread. Maybe start a Canadian version?

Allman Bros: Midnight Rider (seriously great driving music)
Charlie Daniels: Always gonna be The Devil Went Down to Georgia for me.
Lynyrd Skynyrd: Simple Man is a given, but Tuesday's Gone is up there for me too.
Hank Williams Jr.: Family Tradition or If Heaven Ain't ALot Like Dixie
Honorable Mentions (that aren't the four listed):
Can't You See with The Marshall Tucker Band.
George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today
Dolly Parton - Coat of Many Colors
Loretta Lynn (I could do a whole thread of just her) - Coal Miner's Daughter

Actually they don't do what the bands I selected do. Not even close. Again, I like The Band, but they aren't Southern and their music doesn't sound like any of those bands
