If aTm, Miss St, and Bama win this weekend, the following teams in the West will be 4-4 in the SEC:
aTm
Auburn
Ole Miss

Would they all be tied for 3rd in this case? Or would they use tiebreakers to determine a 3rd, 4th, and 5th team?

TECHNICALLY?

You're all tied for 3rd. Just like if Alabama and State win this weekend, we're technically tied for 1st - the tie breaker is used to determine who represents the West in the SECCG, not who wins the West.

I imagine it's viewed that way because of the more convoluted 3-way ties. If the teams all lost to each other, who "wins"? Basing it originally on BCS standings, then the random of luck of who had the "least crappy" SEC East teams, the second of which the team has absolute zero control over, would be silly to determine an outright winner over. Can you imagine that discussion?

"Sorry, you didn't win the West."

"Why not???"

"Vanderbilt had a worse season than Kentucky... duh."

There will be a 3-way tie for 3rd: Auburn, LSU and Ole Miss.

Don't even worry your little head about it.

Lol, I guess I should have clarified my interest in knowing. A co-worker and I had an on going bet that aTm would finish the season in the top half of the west this yr. 4th would be a push... So wasn't sure how it would work out. But yes, it does mean a lot.

Auburn would be ahead since they have the better East opponent records.

Not that it matters

Ole Miss would be 5th (worst record vs west teams)

Auburn would be 4th (lost to A&M)

First Tiebreaker is hth among the three teams - they are tied at 1-1.

Next is record within the division. AU and aTm are 3-3, OM is 2-4, so they are eliminated and hth decides that aTm is third place.

1st thru 3rd would be top half... 5 thru 7th would be bottom half. 4 right in the middle... Not sure what I am missing.
