If they just wait, there will likely be nothing to melt over. Unless 2 of the champs from the PAC, Big 10, and Big 12, I firmly believe the SEC will only get one team in.
But by releasing ranking every week, this is exactly what the committee wants.
Exactly. Mississippi State needs a miracle to make the playoff if Bama wins out.

Against the p5 plus ND and BYU as independents, each conferences w/l.
SEC 5/2
Pac12 7/3
ACC 5/8
Big12 4/7
B1G 6/11
Makes it pretty clear which 2 conferences are at the top when there's only 2 conferences with a winning record against the others.
SEC has 8/14 bowl eligible and UF(Eastern Kentucky), SC(South Alabama), and UT(MU or Vandy) will be bowl eligible and UK(Louisville) and Arky(OM or MU) might be. So 11/14 to 13/14 will be bowl eligible.
PAC12 has 6/12 bowl eligible and the rest is a cluster but 4 still have a chance, though all 4 probably won't get there. 9/12 is a possibility.
ACC has 9/14 bowl eligible and may get one more with Virginia Tech(Wake or Virginia). So 10/14.
Big12 has 6/10 bowl eligible and probably won't get any more as OSU has BU and OU left. So 6/10.
B1G has 9/14 bowl eligible and at most can get two more in Michigan(Maryland OR tOSU) and either Illinois(Penn State AND Northwestern) or Northwestern(Purdue AND Illinois) but will probably only get 1 more if Michigan beats Maryland. So 10/14.
So even though the best conference beats the hell out of themselves, they will end up with the largest percentage of teams that are bowl eligible. There is a reason for that. It's because the SEC beats the crap out of every other conference overall.

Let me explain SEC bias to you Southern idiots who are too wrapped up in being fans of a conference more than you are fans of a team (how loser is that?) SEC schools get ranked higher in the preseason. Then during the season, they climb higher than teams from other conferences when they win, and fall less than teams from other conferences when they lose. When they beat an SEC school, who has enjoyed the same exaggerated pre-season ranking, it's seen as a bigger win. So this monster bias feeds itself. Then you have ESPN, a walking conflict of interest, hosting the SEC conference network as a part of its network. And there you have it, idiots........ SEC bias. The good SEC teams are set up for success and protected from failure. That's what bias is.
The guy rips is for cheering for the SEC but he explains why it's a good idea to cheer for the SEC.
As long as we keep winning bowls/OOC games it will always help the conference and each individual team in the long haul. Crazy how many fans don't understand that concept.

Do these people not remember how many years in a row an SEC team had won the title before last year? And we probably would have had another SEC winner if the 4th best team in the conference hadn't lucked into 2 wins at the end of the year and then bitched out to Florida State.
And these same people were claiming SEC bias for those years as well.

Still, the Big 12 should never be allowed in the playoff until they join the 20th (lol) century and get a fricking conference championship game.
I can't agree with this. Their champ will of played everyone else. The SEC champ, at most only plays 9 of the 13 other schools.
Plus the Big 12 isn't a bad conference. Likely 2nd best.

Unless we have we have bunch of top teams lose, MSU won't sniff the CFP, unless they win the SEC.

I would think a candy arse school is one who can't beat Indiana at home.
No argument there, but they are our pledge now and will be paddled accordingly.
Now run along back to what ever B12 message board you crawled out from under and don't return till at least Texas or Oklahoma is in the conversation for a national title.

That was embarrassing, true.

So, playing every team in your conference isn't enough? Unlike conferences with division where no school matches up with every other conf school, the Big 12's method is far more objective. You will never see a conf team with 2 or 3 conf losses play against a team with 0 or 1 loss who has already beaten the other "division champ". Everything is settled on the field.
