This actually excites me more than the Ale Trail.

Combine the Taco Tour with the Ale Trail and I could be in a diabetic coma by the end of the year.

Is there a list or do I have to listen to the recording?

I thought Team Springdale had put up an article or list at one poking, but I can't find it now. I know that Taqueria El Cunado has huitlacoche, which makes them about as authentic as you can get. Not sure if they're mentioned in the radio piece or not.

"Team Springdale" has launched a taco tour. There are purportedly twenty or so taquerias around the Springdale area. In this report they visit: (1) Taqueria El Cunado, (2) Charly's Taqueria, and (3) La Taquiza (actually in Lowell).

That last one made me think of this:

So visit them all and get back to us.

Team Springdale while kind of humorous is doing good work in balancing out the regressive good old boy network who runs that town with some forward thinking creative classers.

The good thing about springdale is there's a lot of areas to gentrify eventually.

Their opportunity to carve out their own identity and greatest strength (their multiculturalism) is their leadership's greatest shame. Instead of being ashamed or denying it, they need to embrace it and capitalize on it.

But what if you're one of the good ol' boys?

I mean we run this show.

Between the whites, latinos and Pacific Islanders in Springdale, it has to be one of the most diverse towns in the state. There are even a few black people living there, now.

I haven't been there, but I wonder if it is canned. The real deal has a very earthy taste to it (rotted corn), but canned it just tastes gross. Just seems like a hard thing to procure most of the year for a taqueria. I grew my own once to try it and I liked it, but won't be growing it again (no one else would touch it and our climate is wrong most summers).

Yeah. I stick with the spanish name for it when ordering or talking about it. Corn Smut just doesn't sound too appetizing.

Edit: ANd I should say that I haven't had the quitlacoche at Cunado... I was just impressed they had it.

Not sure about that, but the Alambre at El Cunado is the bomb.com, and it's a shite ton of food.

La Super Quesadilla is actually not bad considering what you get for the $. I would keep it simple their with the ordering though...don't go trying the mole or their fish.

ETA: A Spanish to English app is handy at most of these places if you aren't too familiar with them. Also, there is a definite language barrier at several, so just point to the menu and nod.

I had to point early on, now they know enough English and I know enough Spanish to order, pay, ask for napkins and ask for el bano.

If Taco Bell is part of the tour, it could be the drunken hot sharts tour
