Keep in mind that not only do his daughters attend Auburn, Kristi Malzahn is active in the local church groups and has a pretty good bible study from what I've heard. After moving every 2 or so years since he arrived at Arky, his family is finally able to put down roots.

I am rolling my eyes so hard at this.

Malzahn won't leave us for another college team. Literally every blue chip you could consider a tier/half-tier above us has a coach they are happy with except Michigan & Florida. He won't go from one big 6 team to another, and I just don't see a Michigan move either.

I was only referring to the OP's list, no the complete coaching search list.

I wouldn't blame GUS for taking that job. You get to play in the East you get all the talent beating your door down to play there. Don't have to deal with the pressure of beating Bama. Wouldn't blame him at all

Not going to happen so there is no reason to discuss it.

No one is going to discuss the possible candidates for the slight possibility that Gus leaves.

There's just no point in talking about it unless it happens.

When his name came up for the Texas job and he went and worked out his extension with JJ, without his agent being involved, I knew Auburn is where he wanted to be. Unless some of the behind the scenes money pisses him off, or the NFL comes calling, I think he is at Auburn for quite some time.

Paul Finebaum is just putting Gus on there to stir up his listeners.

OK. So you'd rather read dramatic threads with people melting and bickering about all kinds of other sh*t instead of a discussing a hypothetical. Got it.

Yeah, PAWLLL is doing everything he possibly can to stir up shite surrounding Gus. He wants him gone from Auburn so bad he can't stand it.

I know more than a dozen UF boosters. A couple of them are big, and I mean big, money donors. Not a single one of them wants Mullen.

Dunno who'd be on our short list, but Gus isn't gonna want to touch that Florida mess w/a 10ft pole. He's got it good at Auburn, and if he were to ever leave, it'd be to the pros.

Since when have Foley & PF been close friends? The guy has no idea who Foley is gonna go after. I don't think Foley wants to try & poach a school in the SEC. I personally think he has Mike Gundy & Chip Kelly in his crosshairs & I don't think either of them are going to leave for UF.

Please bear in mind that the last three times the Florida job has come open, Foley's hired one guy with a decent track record at a non-Power 5 school who desperately wanted an upper-tier job, but also two co-ordinators with zero head coaching experience, both of whom were fallback chocies after he failed to attract the big name guys he really wanted, despite the obvious advantages and financial incentives at his disposal.

By all outward appearances, Foley is an expert administrator and runs UF athletics very well - but he's not the kind of guy who is capable of persuading someone to take the football gig unless they really want it in the first place. IOW, the only way Gustav is even in the conversation for this job is if he wants to be there instead of at AU, which I don't believe is the case.

ETA: To answer the OP's question, I would want us to look for someone who runs a similar scheme to Malzahn's, or at least some sort of high-octane offense, as opposed to hiring a defense-oriented guy. Of course I'm still a big fan of Chris Petersen, despite his first-year struggles at Washington, but I doubt he'd leave so soon.
