They were also discussing on sports radio this morning and mentioned Malzahn's name.

I know the possibility is so slim, but since we've spent so much time discussing coaching changes...

Who would be on AU's short list?

Why would Gus want to go try to rebuild that dumpster fire of a program when he is set to make another run at the NC next year. TEAM JJ!!!!!!!!

This is a good problem to have other teams wanting your coach, that means we have a good one. As long as he is successful his name will be mentioned in coaching searches at the end of every football season. Quit melting and get use to it.

Supposedly he turned down early overtures from Texas when they were gauging interest (where he was born). At AU, Gus has long term job security after last season, solid pieces to work with going forward and a happy family. I don't see him leaving that for Florida, which has a massive rebuilding job ahead of them and few pieces to work with on offense.

Keep in mind that not only do his daughters attend Auburn, Kristi Malzahn is active in the local church groups and has a pretty good bible study from what I've heard. After moving every 2 or so years since he arrived at Arky, his family is finally able to put down roots.

Guys - I absolutely don't believe he will leave - see my OP. I'm just curious who people think AU would target.

I honestly can't even remember the names people threw around in 2012 during the coaching search.

Did you really just post a list from the $aban cock sucker Paul Finescum?! Of course he has Malzahn on there.

We should know by now that for career guys, family being rooted is nothing. If the job is right, they'll move. They're used to it by now.

That being said, any talk of Gus leaving is complete, unabated nonsense. At least until he has another smashmouth season. Him leaving for Florida is just silly to talk about.

Now, to humor the OP, if the apocalypse came and the impossible did happen and he did leave:

- Bryan Harsin

- Hugh Freeze (yep)

- I'd have to hope we would interview a defensive guy like Narduzzi

- I still think Chad Morris would be a great choice

Don't give any credence to Finebaum. He's a Bama homer and doesn't really make bones about it.

Just yesterday, when I was listening (why I have no idea), he said, "We heard from Charles today and it was awful as usual. Let's hear from the one other type of Auburn fan with Tammy."

He sets up his show to shite on Auburn. Always has. It gets glaringly obvious when Auburn loses a few games too.

Tammy in her dumbass call mentioned something about Muschamp coming to Auburn.

Finebaum interrupted her and said, "Muschamp spent a little time in Auburn already. Got out as quickly as he could."

Because Auburn's such a shitty city and shitty program.

He did that all the time when Tuberville was beating Alabama. Auburn is a terrible place to live, work, or play football. No good coaches want to come. Any good coaches there want to leave. There's discord in the athletic department. The boosters are criminals. The BOT breaks the rules. There's rumors of NCAA investigations.

Just wait. It's all coming. Danny Sheridan will be on soon to tell Paul that there's some kind of "issue" with the Auburn program. They probably won't go the NCAA infractions route again. Probably will jump on the Marshall/Mincy pot trail and make some absurd "rumored" allegations about a drug problem with the Auburn players.

Don't be surprised if that happens.

tl;dr - Don't pay attention to anything Finebaum has to say.

Most "career" guys are looking for a destination which is why they move and family is okay with it.

Outside the NFL, hard to argue that leaving a good situation with job security for UF, which has no job security/goodwill from previous years, a lesser roster currently and not monumentally better recruiting grounds is worth it.

If you wanted to be successful and starting from scratch, UF is the place to be over AU. You don't start from scratch and the other factors affect you financially

That list may be who UF would like, but Stoops is the only one that is remotely possible. Why the hell would any of the others leave with the current success they're having?

Finebaum is just doing his thing - throwing out ridiculous ideas so that insecure fans will tune in / call his show.
