They were out for revenge. I've never seen a more hostile and unwelcoming environment for opposing fans. Hope the rest of you guys that made the trip had a more enjoyable experience than myself.

Revenge for what? Them sucking at defense last year?

I knew from the moment last years game ended that last nights game would be a hostile one. Kudos for braving the elements and the fans.

One of the few honest mutt posters made a comment (during off season on tRant), that a large majority of his fellow dawgs have been extremely jealous of Auburn because AU has a reputation for winning at any and all costs, instead of going about things the Richt way. These are unhappy fans, and even though we lost to them last night, they still know they're stuck w/a coach that will never lead them to the Promised Land.

I'm not surprised but at the same time the environment in Athens consists of how many Uga alumni? my experience, the alumni are way out numbered. You have a frustrated group of sidewalk fans.
And if that is alumni then evidently your chances for success in life after uga is pretty low.

I hope our young guys got a belly full of that feeling last night. If we need SO/FR to step up and be leaders, so be it.

All our upperclassmen seem to be quiet guys like Marshall, CAP, Coates, Therezie and so on
Nobody else is good enough on the field to be taken seriously

It wasn't very pleasant. I was barked at more times than I care to count. Game didn't help any.

quote:Hmm just a few of the comments thrown at me yesterday:
Revenge for what?
"a miracle won't save your arse this year Auburn"
"the luck is over.. Here's what a good football team looks like"
"Kill Marshall frick that kid kill him Carter"
"cheating sons of bitches go frick yourself. Karma at its finest. "
" learn from Richt how to run a program at your 2nd rate wanna be UGA"
"how about them dogs you bitch go the frick back to Alabama and frick your sister"
And a thousand more jokes about Marshall, karma, RunningbackU, and how dirty and lucky AU is.

Well that is Georgia fans for you.

God bless their fans for not having the ambition to aim higher, it's fans like those that keep Richt's UGA employment intact.
Even the recruits know that at UGA the limit is the ceiling and never the sky.

Odd how they claim credit for Richt running a clean program when you find out his star player has been getting paid for two years and that the only reason he was benched was the evidence was overwhelming and they had no choice.

Hey Rig, you said you're a senior now at Auburn right?
Quick story. I was talking to a USAF guy who moved to middle Georgia back in 1980 when UGA won a natty. The way he described the fan base, doubt a single one of them graduate high school but they were all in it, makes me realize not much has changed in 34 years plus. He said he and the other USAF guys just rooted against them but they too lucked their way to an undefeated season.
Flash forward fire hose game. Keep going from there (my time 1996-2000) and not much has changed from what you probably saw yesterday. And just imagine being a GT alumni and having some overweight sidewalk fan dressed head to toe in Georgia gear talk trash about your school. GT? They freaking working on satellites there, at Georgia, they set up a memorial for a kid who isn't dead but can't play because he took money. But according to their fans, UGA > GT because football. Even though GT has won a natty more recently then they.
Now contrast the fan base, that group, that campus, that football team with ours, and I wouldn't trade a thing. Their life is Georgia football, and it's a pretty miserable existence. I guess cut them some slack.

Yep and you hit the nail on the head. My favorite thing about the UGA/GT rivalry is that UGA hired a contractor from GT to design and build one of their buildings on campus (a residence hall I believe) and the GT alum drew it up and built it in the shape of a T for Tech. Supposedly still on campus today

Those GT guys are hell of an engineers. My friends dad, who is a GT alum, and his company redid our field the last time we made updates to the stadium. First time I met him he was wearing an Auburn polo and I said "I thought you were a GT guy?" He told me "I'm an Auburn fan now too since they paid for my house that you're standing in"

It's crazy how good their aerospace engineering is. My cousin-in-law, if there was such a thing, lives up in Boston and recruits for an it engineering firm. He makes a ton of money and I asked him what colleges does he go to.
He said MIT, GT, Stanford and Cal. They love GT.
Now if GT would ever get a campus somewhere outside of the dangerous dump that is downtown Atlanta I'd think about letting my kids go there. Til then, just no.

Had a good time myself until about halftime when the wheels fell off both our team and the group I was with. We also knew a lot of Georgia folks there, so that helped. Even got a couple of phone numbers of UGA grads that own businesses that are looking for supply chain graduates.
That said, when the wheels fell off for the group I was with, they REALLY fell off

Some guy thought it was a good idea to take my hat before the game. I think he might be reconsidering his decision making process today.
