I've had run-ins with him and his staff over the years as have dozens of my former students, several having worked a lot with him while they were attached to the UAA. All of us liked dealing with him and the other coaches. As I've mentioned before, Muschamp used to pop up over in my building from time to time just to say hello and chat up grad students slaving away during reading days/exam week. He was pretty open with his time around campus and Gainesville when he wasn't working. That is why the serious money and Foley had such a hard time letting him go this year; like damned near everyone else who ever had to work with him in Gainesville, they liked him a lot.
I get the impression that no amount of evidence to the contrary will sway you from your carefully considered opinion made from sporadic scenes from the sidelines, but for the rest here who may be on the fence, there are my two cents.
He did need to go, maybe for him as much as us. This hole was just getting deeper. But he is damn sure a good guy.
Thanks for sharing all this. It is really nice to hear stuff like this from someone close to the university and somewhat behind the scenes.

I'm pretty much a nobody on this end of things. I had limited interactions with him, and a lot of good friends knew him pretty well. Some of them thought he was a bad coach, but nobody I know that worked around him during the season thought he was anything but a great guy.
