I give him a B-.

What i really like is how the staff has finally adjusted the play calling to help him succeed the last few games.

We need him to be about average and hope our defense maintains is level of play and we have a shot folks.

How does everyone feel about his performance tonight?

I'd give him a B. Much improved, and it obviously helped to have White back. I sti don't like all the play calling, but I really liked the balance. Maty looked more comfortable. His 3rd down percentage was fantastic.

He will have to be better next week. That's going to be a battle.

I agree, the last two games will be tough.

F in the 1st half. No different than the rest of the season.

A- in the 3rd quarter.

C- in the 4th.

Overall performance score of D simply because Witter, Hansborough, White, Sasser, and the defense are the reason we won.

Mauk threw terribly most of the game. Almost every pass was under thrown, which is odd because he's been over throwing receivers most of the season. Interception. A few "almost intercepted" passes.

We got lucky on a few plays.

However, if we wouldn't have committed a shite ton of penalties, if we wouldn't have roughed the kicker, and if one toughdown wouldn't have been called back...we'd have won this game by at least 3 touchdowns.

I thought he had a pretty solid night. In the B range somewhere, with the - or the +. Only recall 2 poor decisions throwing the ball. One on the INT and the other was on the catch that I think it was that White made. Thrown while on the run and kind of just slung it out there.

I think the staff has tried to rein in the gunslinger mentality with a lot more shorter passes.

The amazing throw he made when scrambling and hit Sasser(check that, just saw replay, it was White) was his best pass of the year. They called it a "dangerous" throw but he made a nasty move to White who had to have his eyes open to even see that coming, great catch by him too. Saved the drive and maybe the game.

His effort was fairly outstanding but it usually is, just his decision making is what hangs him up, like some real life Roy McAvoy, his brain just has a tendency to get in the way some times.

Even though he got picked, he needs to keep going down field, he has been pretty accurate overall and needs that aspect of his passing game to make the short pass work. Hopefully he doesn't get "coached out" of stretching the field.

He only ran a couple of times but made them count. Came up big on one run that saved a drive.

He made a few errant throws that were late(behind his receiver), but the pass to Hunt at the end was nails. 252 yards throwing the ball when the running game was on and being utilized, this wasn't a hard defense to test you but he did what he needed to win and threw in some eye popping plays for good measure.

Solid B.

A&M decided to take his running lanes away and he beat them with his arm. He made countless 3rd down throws to move the chains with accurate, short to intermediate throws and finally made defenses respect the passing game again.

If this offense plays balanced we have a great shot at winning out.

yea I thought I heard them say we converted something like 7 third downs in a row and a fair number came by way of air.

yep, not to overplay the "probably worst defense in the SEC" but if we hadn't thrown the ball pretty well we still probably don't win this game, either.

Suffice it to say if our O couldn't show up for this game in a big way, why even remotely think we could beat Tenn or Arky.

The thing that I saw and maybe it's me is that it seemed like we did a better job of using the run to set up the pass much more than in games past.

I'd give MM a B. He did enough good to great things in the second half to offset the first half. I don't attribute a lot of the first half problems to MM either. I think the coaching staff had a little to do with some of the problems.

I think the play calling and the penalties had as much to do with stalling drives in the 1st half as anything else.

He still looks weak on the long ball. Like his shoulder just isn't fully healed. But he has some poise and, dare I say it, swagger back.

no they didn't help did they... we need to implement a better system, maybe the poster-placard or whatever, to get plays in faster. We never manage to get the play off without using 25 seconds of play clock, even if we are actually trying to go up tempo...

This was bad last year and still bad this year, ie NOT fixed at all, but I'm sure we're "assessing and evaluating" as always,,, right Gary?

Gary did have a salient answer to one of the questions he was asked regarding dealing with the 12th man... "I don't know" I believe it was, props to Gary on getting that one right!

better job may simply equate to them being more susceptible to the run.

I'll go with this too. Missed too many long passes which is his specialty. I understand it was rainy, cold & windy but he should have hit a couple of them.
