The topic of the interview is about black QBs at Alabama. However, Andrew Zow says some things about DuBose and Franchione that are pretty revealing.

It becomes more and more obvious that we dodged a bullet by Fran leaving.

Hmmm... I was an athlete during his time and interacted with him moderately, did not know he was from union county. Cj spiller is from there too, about 45 minutes from my farm. Zow was bad, watts was bad, john david idgaf was also bad. God I don't miss those squads sans 99

I thought Zow was pretty good...and better than Watts. Had a bad year in '00, but his numbers were pretty good the other 3 years. Have good memories of Zow, especially in '99 and in late '01...although his best year numbers-wise was in '98...

Zow was back coaching at Union County when Spiller was there. Some thought Alabama might have a shot early on. But it was not to be.

Kid was talented with a great arm .....this maybe explains why he had a hard time being consistent. Had to be a lot of pressure and some people arent built to handle it .

I don't remember any discussions about race in the off season or the first few weeks within, in regards to Sims and Coker. The only people that saw it through that prism would have seen it because they wanted to.

Wasnt alot, but here were a segment of very vocal Bama fans that were upset at Andre Ware because they thought he was playing favorites. It would be naive to think, as Zow pointed out that some fans want a Bama QB based on their race.
I thought Zow was a pretty decent QB, but seems he was affected by multiple off the field issues with the coaches he was under.

I remember a certain Iron Bowl AZ willed
us to a win.Best performance of that season
and he lit awburn a new a-hole not
only completing passes but blocking
on plays himself. Personally, he put
watts to shame

I had several friends that played and started on those teams. It was a very weird time and culture over there, and I would hear the strangest stories about practice and the locker room when I would go visit.
It's funny that Zow now has my Dad's old job.
But I don't go to games down there anymore.

Andre Ware was deepthroating Sims during that game.
I don't give a crap what race the QB is. I just want the better QB. But Andre Ware was obviously playing favorites based on race in that game.

Andrew Zow played about the best game I ever saw an Alabama QB play his senior year against Auburn. Running, passing, throwing big blocks. Absolutely masterful.

Zow played well against Auburn, but what I remember most was Santonio Beard and Ahmaad Galloway running wild. I thought they were the PoGs.
