The odds of a 2 loss SEC Champion is slim, and IMO the odds of that 2 loss SEC Champion getting into the College Football Playoff is even slimmer... However, could it happen?

Let's say Alabama beats Mississippi State, Auburn beats Alabama (and wins out) and Ole Miss beats Mississippi State... This scenario would put Auburn in, I do believe.

Alabama 10-2 (6-2)
Auburn 10-2 (6-2)
Mississippi State 10-2 (6-2)
Ole Miss 10-2 (6-2)

What a cluster frick that would be!

Not if the PAC-12, big-12, B1G, all have 1 loss champs and FSU is still undefeated.

Probably not. That would be a shock to SEC country.

From "SEC should get 2 in!" to "better luck next year SEC!"

Would be quite a spectacle.

This is my belief as well. It would be a travesty to not have the SEC in the playoff honestly, but that is the problem with only allowing 4 teams in. It's better than 2 of course, but then you run this type of risk

I think the Pac is going to somehow have a 2 loss champ. I just have that feeling

We'll screw it up for the SEC by winning the conference and being ranked #5

See this thread LINK

Teams with 0 or 1 losses would have an edge. Any team with 2 or fewer losses by the end of the season will be possible, but not probable.

And here is the REALLY bad scenario:

What if all that happens and a 3-loss SEC East team wins and the SEC is shut out of the playoffs.

That would be something.

Possible, but not a good spot to be in, so many 1 loss teams out there.

I think a 2 loss SEC champ is sitting out.

If you trust ESPN FPI, the chance of this is actually ~46%

I might disagree if the B1G's 1-loss champ is Nebraska and if MSU loses to Bama and in Egg Bowl. Don't see the committee excluding a 2-loss SEC champ from the playoff so that a 1-loss Nebraska gets in.

Likely. It would provide an instant credibility boost (for the rest of the country) if the committee leaves them out. We couldn't really say very much. Granted, I think our 2 loss team(s) would fare well against playoff participants, but nonetheless, not a great argument.

Bad things man.

That would usher in the mythical Category 6 Melt that the ancients had visions about.

Many were deceived by false prophets last year. They were tricked into believing that the Kick 6 Iron Bowl was in fact a Category 6 Melt. Do not be deceived lest ye burn and melt in eternal damnation.....the Category 6 can only be ushered in when the entire SEC melts.

Disagree. I think there's a 100% a two loss West team gets in if they win the SeCCG with how things are shaking out. The committee has already shown they value the strength of the West and ok with close losses to other good teams when they still had Ole Miss as the 4th seed after losing to LSU in Death Valley (this was also before LSU proved they'd turned things around). Just my opinion, of course anything could happen.

In all likelihood there will a be a 1 loss Big 12 champ (TCU or Baylor), a 1 loss Pac 12 champ (Oregon or ASU), and a 1 loss or less FSU. Really, really need OSU/Nebraska to lose another one each for this to happen.
