tl;dr

This is obviously not a complete Auburn team.

First half of the season, our offense was relatively stale and our defense played awesome. Then as soon as our offense turns it around, the defense goes to shite.

We've been pretenders when it comes to whether we deserve to be in the playoff picture. I was willing to ride that wave as good fortune kept us in the discussion.

I'd gladly trade this loss for one to OM. No doubt in my mind that the first 4Q fumble call scrwed us. And to have a missed snap, I'm sorry, but that's too much to handle for one fanbase in the same 4th quarter . We were due to have fortune/controversy go against us, we've made quite a few fanbases feel the same as we do today along our run.

But when it comes down to it, Shon Coleman really held like shite all game, so we likely shouldn't have actually been in position to win it, and thus shouldn't have been in position to lose it in such shitacular fashion.

It shouldn't have ever been this close against A&M this year. They came out ready to ball and really looked like the better team throughout. This loss is the same kind of loss we make fun of Oregon and Ohio State for year after year- a hyped team getting reset.

This one hurts, but it brings me back to my original point- we're not a playoff team, just a pretty good one. So in a way, its relieving as a fan to have the playoff taken off the table when I personally had doubts as to how we would even get there with the schedule coming up.

I still think we're capable of beating just about anyone if we play a complete game, so I'm pretty excited for the UGA & Bama games for being what they are- individual games. I wish we were playing for more, so that they'd just be obstacles to something greater, but we haven't earned that luxury. So now I'm ready to embrace the individual challenges of those 2 games, and am willing to accept that the best team in the country isn't possibly on the Plains.

Once the SECR opens up, I will launch a sig bet with the Georgia fans that I hope you guys will join. When it comes down to it, this game is one we won't be favored in, and I'd say they hold the advantage being at home. Us losing to aTm at home is about as bad as their meltdown to Florida. They'll be fired up since they have a better shot than they previously thought, and with Gurley coming back.

Don't be bitter about how the game ended- give props to aTm. We truly didn't deserve that win, and God knows we were due for some heart break.

Solid post.

As long as it mathematically possible for AU to win the SEC though, I'll keep riding it

I suppose that's true, but if we win out and somehow win the SEC- I'm really not sure the committee needs to let a 2-loss team in. I just don't think we would have proved we were one of the 4 best teams in the country.

I think the only deserving team for the playoff will be whoever wins MSU/Bama and goes on to win out.

Agreed. But I now do think a two loss team could get in looking at the scheduled of the top ten. And I have a feeling that could be Georgia if they win out and win the SEC. They are a fickle group with massive holes that would get eaten alive in a playoff but there is a reason they play the games.

At this point Auburn needs to wreck theirs and Bamas seasons and we can call a 11-2 season an okay to good year.

I hope the team gets a chip on their shoulder and changes are made. Gus seemingly doesn't make a change until it causes a loss.

One thing is, this team as it has been playing could've made the playoff and probably face Miss St or FSU. If they played defense as they've been playing we'd never hear the end of losing against to either.

If Auburn comes out on fire and wins out big in the final three games then this loss to TAM was the catalyst. Their current trajectory was not a good one for finishing 3-0.

Agree w Swoop. Next year our schedule is way more manageable. Goin on the road to Arky terrifies me as well as Kentucky on a Thursday night, but overall it's not level 100 in Tetris like this year is.

How well we'll do obviously depends on who stays and who goes to the draft, but I think our ceiling is higher next year.

offense will be fine, the questions are who do we lose on defense and who do we gain?

1. Mincy's gone (at this point, he's worse than Jake Holland ever was so this is a good thing.
2. Whitehead (again, probably best),
3. Gabe Wright (like wtf is up with him this season?)

Is Blackson a senior? who am i missing?

But we'll be getting Lawson back and hopefully our DL gets some more weight room time. They surely need it.
