Stayed up late last night watching LSU let one slip away and then Utah do the same. A few things came to my mind this morning as I sat with some coffee that I loved about yesterday:

- Seeing JJ be a leader and comfort Nick on the sidelines after the fumble at the goal. That's our future guys. Such a powerful scene to me.

- The fact that Nick keeps the same stoic, reserved look on his face when he wins and does great. And jesus he does some great stuff. But when he makes a mistake like he did on the goal line yesterday, the pain on his face is palpable. He is not angry. He is hurt. You can tell he feels like he let himself down. His coaches down. The fans down. He gets it. He gets a pass in my book. That dude was a friggin DB 3 years ago. And is now a QB on the biggest stage in college football. And is DAMN good at it. Love that kid. We will look back and watch film of him like we do now of D Craig and think "holy crap - he was amazing."

- Nick, Cap, and Reese all being directly involved in 2 plays out of the whole game that impacted our ability to win. But I love those guys.....3 of the best to ever play for AU. They were also involved in all of the OTHER plays yesterday that had us in contention despite the defense struggling.

- Gus has this program and its fanbase so confident that a potential 10 win season will leave us wanting more. Wow.

- This game hurt so much - as did the BCS game last year - because we FEEL like we should win them and COULD have won them if all the bounces went our way. But guess what - they don't always go your way. When Tubbs was here, how many games did our guys show up and lay a goose egg and we walked away throwing our hands in the air. Lots. That has not happened here yet. Our guys always fight to the end. Perfect? Not by a long shot. But they fight. God love em.

- When will we ever be ok with a loss? I ask myself this same question....I mean, do we realistically expect that because we have a good team and reached the BCS game last year - when all the stars aligned - that we will do it every friggin year? Man how things have changed for us over 2 years. Bama? Yeah, I get it - they have a zillion championships and have grown (rightfully so) a sense of entitlement by winning 3 in the past 5 years. We are not quite there folks. Enjoy the ride.

- The way our kids handled themselves in the interviews last night. The things they said - how they said it. "We will keep working hard. Made some bad plays. Football is like that - sometimes the unexpected happens. But we will get ready for GA."

- The things you could tell they WANTED to say: "What the frick do you want me to say? Of course it hurts. How do I feel? Like shi7. There is a pit in my stomach. You ever play football? Both sides try to win. One side has to lose. It was us this week. We are all upset. But you know what? We are the ones who bust our arse every day in practice and then lift weights and then watch film and then go to class and then study and then go to bed and then wake up and do it all over again. WE are the ones who live and breathe this shite - not you guys. So if anyone feels upset, trust me - it's us. But it's a game. The same game we have played our whole life that probably very few of you have played. We have lost before. And we will lose again. But we will continue to try to be the best we can be and make you proud. I just hope you appreciate it. We can still try to win 10 games and get to a New Years bowl. Please don't make us feel like shite about such an accomplishment just because we made a few mistakes like kids sometimes do."

Keep some perspective people. Our kids have it - we should too. WEGL.

Quality post. Very proud of our guys, our team.

Losing like that sucks. But when our team plays like it did last night with all the effort and want to win, then handles the loss as a team with dignity, just makes me want to pull for them even harder, support them even more. Now is when they need us, when things don't work out the way they hoped.

Love this team. They will pick their damn arse off the floor and they will give UGA on hell of a fight in 6 days.

Don't expe to win them all, but do expect to win when we are over a 3 Td favorite at home with the visitor starting a freshman qb.

I don't care about the fumbles... shite will happen like that if you continuously put yourself in that situation.

This was a tubs type of loss, just with 20 more points and it was in the afternoon instead of the morning

Nothing about yesterday was on the O. Our D, and D coaches should feel like shite. There is no reason TAMU should have scored more than 7 points. frick our D right in their pussy.

I would imagine our players went into the game expecting to win too.

This was like the 2006 Uga game, wasn't it a new kid Ned Stafford who killed us? In time I bet this fresh QB is a star for TAM.

I don't blame any offensive player.

Nick is a good qb and he played well

Our defense sucks and we need changes in the defensive coaching staff.

I agree with the OP for the most part. Good post. I also agree we HAVE to do something about this defense. It's painful to watch really.

Nick Marshall has done nothing but win at Auburn...Came to us at one of the lowest times in our programs history and has turned it around and laid a solid foundation...He is an Auburn Man!

Nick is a warrior, no doubt. This team doesn't quit. That is a trait all Auburn people should embrace.
Ive been going to AU games since 63, we've been thru hard times over the years -- this isn't them. We are all right and the future is bright

Very solid post. Ignore the little bitches that are still melting.

And this is 2 years after inheriting a shite show. That's the most amazing thing to me.

Yep. There was a picture of him bent over and just staring at the ground. I told somebody that picture sums up exactly what I'm feeling right now. Nick is a baller and leaves it all on the field. Really like the dude.

I really wanted Nick Marshall to win a national title. He did everything for two years to win one.

Still think he deserves the Heisman. Award shouldn't just be for the mvp of the undefeated team.
