Its a temporary rivalry, just like LSU-Auburn before Saban. Its a great game every year. That said, once UT gets good again, it will take a back seat.

Again, I just consider rivalries to be a more traditional thing, not something created in the past 6-7 years. Alabama-LSU was just another game when they weren't both really good, and it'll be just another game again when the time comes that they both aren't really good. Auburn and Tennessee are big games regardless of records. I know that's hard for some people who don't have those historical rivalries to understand, but they just are.

E-mail : Andrew Gribble at agribble@al.com and explain this to him. Evidently he doesn't understand rivalries like you and the other Alabama posters on this forum.

Rivalry's are fluid.

for me it is currently Auburn, LSU, Tennessee.

If we beat Auburn last year, then it is lsu, auburn, tennessee.

in college it was everybody, because we were not very good.

This is the first I've heard of Andrew Gribble. Why would I be mad about someone I've never heard of?

but what if both schools maintain this type of success over decades?

At some point, traditions will be built off what currently is occurring in the world of college football. Maybe LSU-Bama becomes a long-standing, traditional rivalry, maybe not. I actually think LSU-A&M will become a wonderful rivalry in time, but as of right now and for this generation of LSU fans, Bama is the biggest game and biggest emotional game, and if this continues for another decade or so, this will become huge.

I think we'd both love that but we both know that won't be the case. Things go in cycles. It was less than a decade ago Alabama was excited about back to back Independence Bowls. Not long before that LSU was in the same boat. It comes and goes. Let's just enjoy it while we can

They also publish articles from Kevin Scarbinsky so I'm not going to give them any attention that they crave

Traditional rivalry? No

But I'd like to think I lived to see the creation of a rivalry that will be huge in the next 30 years.

IDGAF what you call it, just play the game. I enjoy watching these two teams go at it on the gridiron. These games are the closest thing to the NFL based on the style of play. This is an ice and stim game because afterwards both teams need ice and stim treatments.
