A question that came up on Head 2 Head

Yesterday(for those that don't know H2H is a Mississippi sports radio show hosted by State's and the state of Alabama's own Matt Wyatt and a ballet instructor from OM named Dick Cross).
Would an undefeated Mississippi State team be considered the greatest college team to ever play football? I was in car driving and almost spewed my diet coke when the caller raised the question, but then I got to thinking. Has any other college team ever went 15-0? Surely by that number State would have to considered the greatest football team ever. Thoughts?

So since they get to play more games in a season they are automatically the GOAT? That's fricking ignorance at its finest right there.

What were those teams final record? Thx.

If you base your argument on record then yes but it would hardly be considered the best team ever put on the field imo.

That's all I'm basing it off of

Depends on how they would win the rest of their games, but I have a hard time believing that the best team ever barely beat Arkansas at home, and struggled a little with UAB and Kentucky.

Nebraska 1995 is the GOAT.
Look at these results. Beat four top 10 teams like they were Vanderbilt.

the 15-0 mean nothing, but the SEC West, SEC Championship, and two playoff games against top 5 teams? Yeah, I would say they would have had the best season ever.
Seriously, Arky and Ole Miss and LSU are no jokes, Bama and AU are top teams. Then you get the East Champ which will be a top 20 team. Then you must play two top 4 teams to finish. That would be 8 games against top 15-20 teams.
I would say they played the toughest schedule ever and won all their games. That is pretty damn salty.

I'll give you Auburn, but why Bama? What have they done this season to prove they are a top team?
They could quite easily lose to Auburn and State and end up 9-3.
I just don't understand why they are being elevated above the Ole Miss and LSU no joke status to "top team" status.

We didn't lose to South Carolina and Florida tho

No but they'd be up there

The 15-0 was taking all that into account. The teams we would have to beat to get to that mark would be more impressive than any other undefeated season in college football history IMO.

Your stance on this issue is wildly retarded. Thx.

I don't know man that Alabama defense only gave up 105 points all year

It wouldn't be the greatest "team" in college football history. But it would be the greatest STORY. It would be a defiance of odds that's never been matched in the sport...
