Our offense could be better, but our defense could not be any worse, could it?

Our offense could be better, and it'll have to be against Florida in The Swamp.

1 - Better play-calling in crucial situations when first downs are a must. Or have we just reached the point where we're so worried about having to outscore everyone that we do stupid things? If that's the case then it's really pathetic. But we have to quit throwing the ball in obvious clock-burning run situations.

2 - Run the ball more. Hell, if we're worried about being out-scored then play keep-away from the opponent's offense. Why do we throw the ball so much on 1st down?

3 - Quit taking sacks. Quit taking sacks. Quit taking sacks. Learn to get rid of the ball.

I do not believe our defense will get any worse. Will it? Is that even possible?

It just seems like we do whatever it takes to lose. I almost went catatonic after the game saturday night. Leaving the stadium i couldnt speak. On the way home i couldnt speak. Got home, couldnt sleep but couldnt speak.

It got worse in just the last week after playing auburn. Gave up ~100 more yards and 3 more points to Tennessee at home than auburn on the road. I was optimistic after the auburn game because we had just hung with a top-5 team and got past the toughest offense of the season we were going to see.

Even Lorenzo Ward said "it couldn't be worse"

Seriously. Our defensive coordinator literally said "It couldn't be worse".

I know he's stating the obvious, but...I mean does that rub anyone else the wrong way?

The defense looks like Ron Cooper and Tyrone Nix are in charge again.

Ron Cooper

Don't confuse Ron Cooper with Ty Nix. Cooper had a LOT of great DB's who had NFL careers. Our pass defense was strong during his tenure...that's why lsu stole him.

These were the DB's drafted during Cooper's tenure.
Dunta Robinson
Deandre Eiland'
Rodriques Wilson
Ko Simpson
Johnathan Joseph
Fred Bennett

These were the DB's Cooper recruited and who were drafted w/i 2 years of his '08 departure.
Stoney Woodson '09
Captain Munnerlyn '09

Cooper got talent and made 2 Stars NFL level talent.

I would love to have any of those guys back this year. With any 3 of those guys, I would've guaranteed we would have been no worse than 7-2 right now.
