1. Madison Bumgarner is a freak.
2. Perez is a good catcher but no Yadi with a bat in his hands. Yost should not have let him have that last bat.
3. The 3rd base coach should be fired for holding Gordon. I would rather take my chances with Gordon charging home plate for the tying run with 2 outs than hope for Perez to drive him in.
4. The Royals had a great season and have a great future.

I agree on number 3. That was the only scoring chance agaisnt MB and they went conservative.
Although it seeemed it took Gordon forever to get to 3rd base

If Gordon was sent home, with a good throw he'd been out by 15ft. But everything hinges on a good throw.
Blanco and Perez looked like stooges out there trying to field the ball. I'd say a good shot at a throw off line.
One way or the other, losing on a play at the plate sure beats losing on an infield foul pop fly.

If Gordon was sent home, with a good throw he'd been out by 15ft. But everything hinges on a good throw.

My point exactly. Didn't aggressive base running get the Royals where they were? 1 stolen base in the entire series.

Gordon would have been out by 15 feet if he went. Had Gordon been going hard the whole way...maybe he does send him. But by the time Gordon got to 3rd, he had no choice but to hold him up. Can you imagine the backlash he would have gotten had he sent him and he was out by 15 feet?
Couldn't agree more on #4. Not just an awesome season, but man are they fun to watch play.

Swear I didn't read yours before posting. You're right though, out by 15 feet. The more realistic outcome would be that the cut takes his time and a couple of steps in making an accurate throw and he ends up out by 5 feet instead. Gotta live to fight another day. No way the 3rd base coach can send him.

The lack of aggressive base running, IF ANY, would have come earlier if Gordon eased up earlier. Not sending him home once he got to 3rd wasn't a case of not being aggressive, it was a case of not being stupid.

Royals just did not have the bats, pitching was good enough to win as was the defense but just like the regular season the offense was up and down, hot and cold, needed to have 2-3 bats like Frisco had with Sandavol and Pence, both hit over .400 in the series. In game 7 those two were just as responsible for the Giants winning as Bum, I think Sandavol was the lead off batter in 3 innings and got on base all 3 times. For the WS Bumgarner was hands down the MVP and the main factor in Giants winning the crown, which brings up an interesting question about pitching strategy, if the Royals did not have a pitcher who could beat BUM and the consensus is Shields is the best pitcher on the Royals staff, why not send Guthrie or Vargas out to face Bum and maybe Shields wins his 2 starts and Ventura gets 2 and you're not facing BUM in game 7? must be a flawed strategy or Ned would have thought of it

Yeah to be honest even a poor throw probably gets him. If you watch the replay when he first touches down on third the SS has the ball in short left field ready to throw home. A good throw and I think he's out by 30 feet.
