I'm a fan of the helmet, but very "meh" on the rest.

But hey, I ain't wearing it

I've had a day to digest these, and they've actually grown on me quite a bit. Sorry about the tech comment earlier. These are much better than their affliction styled unis.

The helmet has really grown on me. Kind of hard
To make any jersey tops look throwback with how skin tight all uniforms are nowadays. But I'm digging it.

And egregious offense, but....

I think you hit the nail on the head. Excellent point. Even "throwbacks" to early 90s unis would look markedly different with the way unis are fitted in 2014.

I think it could be done.

Here is the Photoshop mock-up that someone did earlier this year. Old school cool.

I'd be on board with the jersey as the every day one, but I really like the Block aTm.

True, but instead of giving us a full solid maroon jersey, they gave us that crappy techfit stitched patterned jersey. Adidas wasn't even trying on this one. This was more about the helmet art, which is really nice. Adidas probably just gave us whatever maroon color jersey they had in stock and shipped it to us.

What would have looked nicer is a solid faded marooned colored jersey with a white 'egg' color jersey number and patterns on the sleeves. I'd also remove the SEC logo replace the triangle Adidas logo with the retro Adidas logo.

Following up just so I'm clear: I like the hell out of the helmets and shoes, despite me being old and irrelevant. The jerseys... not so much. Doesn't fit. rcb05's Photoshop looks pretty near perfect to me. But I do like the (half-arse) tribute to the '39 team.

My problem, if I have one, definitely isn't new/different uniforms. It is dipshit youngsters like greenbastard immediately assuming that anybody who doesn't like a uniform change is screaming "That ain't Old Army" to their dog. frick you, greenbastard. I mean that sincerely and in a nice way.

The all-blacks at MSU '12 were fantastic, particularly the helmets. The gray whatever-the-hell-that-was at LSU were just butt-ugly, and anybody who disagrees is an idiot. Sorry, but it's true. Not a fan at all of the shiny-arse things they wore at MSU this year, either. Nothing to do with resistance to change.

A half arse tribute would be to do it like the photoshop and not like the actual look of the jerseys. They were solid.

Well now I'm confused. rcb05 isn't one to just make stuff up.

Believe it or not, I wasn't around in 1939 and can't offer meaningful input. I like either your pic or rcb05's, but what they're apparently going with, with that herringbone pattern or whatever that is makes no sense if you're trying to duplicate '39 jerseys.

I posted this on another thread. The following pics turned-up in response to a Google on 1939 uniforms.

Contrary to popular opinion, I was not around then, so I cannot vouch for accuracy.

I thought they loomed great. Love the cream color for the white hightlights.
