wow! Hadn't ever seen that quote. I'm assuming he was talking about the Usc game in '79? That's gotta be the most impressive quote about tiger stadium I've ever seen.

You bet brutha! I threw the first beer can at the USC busses back when you could do that and get a cheer instead of 30 cops beating you! A USC Team with 2 Heisman Winners and 3, count em, three NFL HALL OF FAMERS... Lott being one of them.

I promise you... This will be a fun one... We're mostly too fat and too spoiled these days and our A.D. has sold us on paying $2000 per season ticket to watch three SEC games (two before dark), Sam Houston State, a Louisiana Directional School, and a pair of drunken florida gator guys imported from roller blading in the keys... (insert gay joke then homophobic response here)... BUT ( one t ) this Saturday night will be the showtime for what causes Tiger Stadium to have the reputation it has...

...we're baaaaaaaaaaaack....(at least this Saturday)

I think Toby Keith said it best, "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was." I think Tiger Stadium will get rocking Saturday night. Hopefully the score will stay close and the crowd will stay in the game.

I agree. I think Toby Keith is a spot on comparison to LSU

In honor of Tiger Stadium and its past glory.

I was barely alive at this time in history but, it was an era of less animosity in the football arena.

Well I was alive with my mothers whole family at Bama and my father's 4 generations at Auburn and me at LSU... That aside, you have no idea what it was like. Visiting teams came on the field and were pelted with whiskey bottles and more... People threw crap from the stands. The screaming and expletives directed at opposing teams was unreal. Alcohol flowed more in the stadium that out. The only thing that's changed is we all have a "bully pulpit" to scream from...

And now I see that Ole Miss has returned tickets. Embarrassed by their slut but appropriate spokeswoman, katie perry... how appropriate seeing her with a plate of corn dogs... Stay home ole piss... You of all people knows what it feels like when the Nasty Bitch by the Mississip comes alive after dark... Get ready.

I do have a bit of an idea of the nasty side. Here:

is Bryant transversing the GT field in a helmet to avoid bottles because their fans felt that football was supposed to played by sweet men who didn't hit hard.

Awesome... I love it... And thanks. Never saw that one. True story... I got so angry on a play call in Legion Field I reached in my large cup and grabbed a piece of ice and threw it. We were about 4 rows up behind the Bama bench. The ice I grabbed turned out to be about 40 pieces of ice that had melted together. The chunk, weighing a solid two pounds just kept going... and going... And I swear it went right at Bear Bryant. My entire life slowed down to a crawl. Not kidding here. The chunk missed Bryant's head by a foot, sailing onto the field. The Alabama people around us grabbed us and threw us on the floor in front of them, tossing their blankets over us as they then sat on us. Apparently State Troopers fanned through the crowd looking for the culprits. The people sitting on us were constantly saying, "Don't move... don't move... be very quiet..." Seriously. If that chunk had hit Bear, I would still be getting a regular bu fu in an Alabama state penitentiary. True story. Of course I got into it with about 5 troopers after the game but that's another story.

That's the problem. LSU's fan base has been deteriorated by all the trash.

Good story, Tim. See, all Gumps aren't bad. :-) You sound like a good guy and a good football fan. Roll Tide and Go Tigers.

I hate your fricking guts for even thinking about throwing something at PBB though.

An A&M fan made a weird, sentimental, self-bloviating thread like this about their stadium and crowd before they played Ole Miss this year too.

STFU, new money. Listen, if your fanbase doesn't start actiing more mature, the real winners in the SEC will kick your asses out of the conference. Act like somebody, not like Boise State.
