I find it hard to believe the playoff would leave out Alabama or Auburn on a serious tear and likely ranked top 4.

I think they will put in Oregon and Kstate and call it a day. That's the part that is upsetting. Fear of no one watching an SEC rematch would dominate the discussion I feel.

It will be fun to see how it all plays out. Since LSU won't be involved I get to enjoy it all for the pure football aspect of it.
And I actually want one of the MS schools to win the playoff.

Id be more upset about a Big 10 team making it in or a one loss ACC team. TCU/Kstate/Baylor/ Oklahoma are good teams and the winner of that conference deserves a spot in the playoffs. Kstate played Auburn really well and whose to say one of the other teams wouldn't have beatin them. Sometimes team A beats team B beats team C who beats team A. So you cant just say well Auburn beat them in a really close game, so they don't deserve a spot in.

This makes the most sense. The Big 12 is a good conference. Their champ should be in regardless.(assuming no more than 2 losses)

I agree. It would be a shame if a Big 10 champ with 2 losses got in over an SEC team, the Big 12, not so much.

It's really amazing how similar Bama and Auburn's situation is right now with two teams from the same state. Bama and Ole Miss. Auburn and MSU. I really don't expect the committee to put Bama or Auburn in if KSU/Baylor/or TCU are 11-1. They won't make that mistake again after 2011.

Would be interesting to see a 1)Miss St 2)Florida St 3)KSU 4) Auburn or 1) Florida State 2)Ole Miss 3)Alabama 4) Notre Dame final 4 creating a chance at 2 rematches in one playoff.

I will be totally shocked if the SEC has more than one team selected.

A committee will make the picks, north, south, east and west. Fairness will be the battle cry.

Look at the selection committee members. Can you see Haden, Luck, Alverez, Osborne, Willingham, Tranghese(whoever he is), the Clemson guy and Condeleezza debating which two from the SEC deserve to participate?

mistake again after 2011

21-0... proved no mistake. Nice try though. Just shows what have said all along. If you are going to a playoff then a 4 team playoff is a joke. Especially when you have 5! not 4 power conferences and independent ND. You need 8 teams.

I just don't think the committee would do that. I believe they will default to conference champions. That's why I made the thread.

You can believe it all you want, but the reality is that when they met during the summer and went through the process using the 2008 season, they took non-conference champ Texas and left B1G winner Penn State out. They've already demonstrated what they would do.

I don't care. This year they can line up whoever they want for the best team in the SEC to play. I firmly believe whomever goes will win both of their games by 3 touchdowns or more.

and if AU gets a chance to play ND it will be fawking hilarious much like when bama played them.

I hope we win out and draw FSU though. We need redemption.

Not for Alabama fans and LSU/SEC fans like myself who wanted the rematch. The fact that we thought we could handle you guys twice in one year is funny looking back. Sure we bitch about how it should of been OSU, but that was only after the beat down or after we realized which route was easier for a NC.

I'm talking from a national standpoint. The combination of the rematch and the manner in which it was decided (blowout fashion) will be enough for the committee to avoid picking two teams from the same conference if the opportunity presents itself.

This is why I dislike the playoff. The who should be in and who should be out question will never be answered whether it's 4,6,8,10,16, whatever. The BCS pitted the two best teams against each other damn near every year it was in existence. Now we have to worry about the 5th best team not getting in.

No they haven't. This is the first year of the committee, and we are still a week away from their first top25. No one knows what they will do.

I really want to see AU best Ole Miss, and Bama beat State. Rivalry weekend would be intense AF.

Why don't some of you guys just look at what the committee has already said and done, if you want insight into what they'll do?

"A quick refresher: The 2008 season had seven one-loss teams and two undefeated teams (Utah and Boise State) ranked in the top nine of the BCS standings heading into bowl season. Oklahoma, Florida, Texas and Alabama were the top four teams that season.

Not Thursday.

The media's top four, in order, was: Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, USC.

The debatable No. 5 was Penn State.

The real selection committee also used 2008 for its mock in August and came up with the same top four -- in a different order. "

You think the committee won't leave out a B1G champion and take a non-champion? They already did.

You think they won't set up a rematch between two teams? They already did...Oklahoma and Texas.

You want insight into how they will vote? They already told you.

People talk. Just wait until it's in the present and the decision is due the next day, not a hindsighted 6 year old study.

Agreed. That would be a 4 way tie for first right heading into rivalry weekend.

So if Alabama/Miss. St. wins, Alabama goes
if Auburn/Miss. St. wins, Miss. St. goes
if Auburn/Ole Miss wins, Auburn goes
if Alabama/Ole Miss wins, Ole Miss goes.

Damn. That's rough stuff haha.

What the hell are you talking about? 6 year old study? The committee met two months ago and used the 2008 season as a model and went through the entire selection process.

Why the hell don't some of you people actually read?

And do any of you guys think they would have gone to the time and expense of getting all those people together and go through the process if they weren't gonna take it seriously?

I said it was a study in hindsight from 6 years ago. I know it was done recently.

Again it's like saying you could have won the Vietnam war if you did this, this and this. It looks all complete and you look smart as hell, but if another Vietnam comes up, you may or may not have any idea what to do.

No, you said it was a six year old study. Period. Go back and read it...it's still there. I don't think you had ever heard of the fact that they had met when you posted all this.

You can speculate all you want, but you really have absolutely nothing to base your speculation on other than your own feelings. You want to just ignore what they've already told us just because you feel like it, fine, go ahead.
