I just can't take it anymore. I've never missed a Vols game in 30 years, 30 frickING YEARS, and I've reached my breaking point.

I know we'll be better next year, but watching this offense is too horrible to bear any longer.

I'll be one of the poor bastards in Neyland watching that massacre first hand.

Just got back from Oxford... I'll be in Neyland next Saturday and in Columbia the following week.

I will always support the Vols, especially when fricking Kiffin is coming back to Knoxville.

Our team needs us most right now. It's hurting them every bit as much as us but if we can just survive Bama, preferably without injuries, the rest of the schedule still has winnable games. It will require Worley to stop making mistakes and start playing like he was earlier in the year but it can happen.

I think you could make a reasonable argument that the best thing you can do for the program is to stop showing up. I'm not sure the folks in charge will care until you stop showing up.

Wait......Wut? What exactly are you protesting? I know you don't want Butch fired so what would you have those in charge do differently? It'd be one thing if Dooley hadn't been fired and we didn't show up to protest him still being employed but he was fired and we all agree butch needs more time so what would you want the AD do differently?

Completely disagree if this was year four with butch I would agree, but we still have a chance to make a bowl game once we get through this obscenely tough part of the schedule. Not saying we will, but I will at least wait and see what happens before I become that critical. As someone said in another thread did we really expect to beat #3 on the road? I didn't. The Florida game is the more disturbing game. But lets see what we do in November before we lose all hope

The Florida game crushed us as fans. Absolutely crushed us. Prof is right -- we have to support the team and rally to get to a bowl game. We're so beaten down as a fanbase that a bad performance like what we had against UF is all it takes to break resolve entirely. It just feels like things aren't getting any better.

But honestly, letting the Florida game ruin the season isn't wise. This is still a team that could get to a bowl and manage, with some luck, 7 or 8 wins (at least 6). I just don't want everything to crumble again.

The Ole Miss game ended up ugly, but our defense played so well, and if it weren't for some silly, silly mistakes on offense, it would have been much more competitive. I still believe this team is good enough to get to and win a bowl game.

I'm as frustrated as anyone -- emotionally drained. But I really want to believe that things are getting better and that UF, Ole Miss, and Bama do not have to be the story of our season.

Tennessee has a massive fan base. We show up, we travel, we spend, we do it all. Yet, we are continually stuck coming up short in coaching hires and getting demolished by programs that shouldn't be demolishing us. If you were to rank coaching hires in the conference since Fulmer was fired, Kiffin*, Dooley, and Butch would all be in the bottom half. And what is happening in other sports at UT is also terrible.

I don't want to fire Butch, if nothing else because I fear the next Dooley and I think Butch will be at his floor a decent enough recruiter to stabilize the program. But that shouldn't be the case. The leadership at UT, whoever that is, is doing a terrible job with UT athletics.

I get that supporting the kids is important, but I'm not sure that those in charge at UT really care all that much about winning. The program is Vandy or Kentucky quality for the last 5 years. If that's what they want, maybe they should get 60,000 fans. Not 100,000.

And I went to Georgia, I went to Ole Miss, and I'm going to Knoxville this weekend. So I'm not practicing what I preach. But after not being competitive. Continually running the same offense with no tweaks to get more from the running game, or provide help to the line, I'm really wondering why go to games where the objective is not to win? Seems stupid.

*Kiffin appeared to be a decent coach. But his leaving really hurt, and it wasn't all that unpredictable. Dude clearly lacked ethics/character.

Good post.

This is the worst part to me. It's like they take a step forward and then two back. It's frustrating as frick.

Edit- I'm still mad about the Florida game...I'm not sure I'll ever get over that one.

I can relate to you on that one, crazy how that game just zapped me of morale, that's one thing we may be underestimating is how much that loss hurt the team's confidence

There's no way I wont watch us play bama

It may not be a lot of fun but I'll watch. I remember not beating them for 10 straight years and I made it through that one. I'll make it through this one. I'll be looking to see how the team responds.

Its bama I hate bama.

Me either. It's not so much that we lost, but how we did it. Florida was begging us to take the game and we wouldn't do it. Good coaches don't lose those games.

That game sapped any faith I had in the coaching staff. I'm back to hoping and waiting and seeing, just like the last several years.

I'll be watching, I may not like what I see but I will always watch. I think it might be time to go into it thinking we will be marginal and not be disappointed.
