So tonight one of our players was gravely injured in the last minute of the game. I hope Latroy Pittman turns out to be fine or recovers speedily.

But now I have to stop and thank Les Miles and the LSU Tigers. As some are aware, LSU tends to be seen as rougher around the edges than is normal in the SEC. However, their class in the last minute of the game proved exactly why they deserved to win. Upon Latroy's injury, they removed their helmets and knelt in respect for a fallen player. They clapped when their own injured player got up but remained on their knees with helmets off since ours was still being strapped onto the board to be carted off.

On our sideline, exactly 6 of our more than 70 players knelt. Undoubtedly these learned their decency not from Will Muschamp but from their old high school head coaches, since Muschamp took the opportunity to huddle his defense and in typical fashion, yell at them.

Almost 7 minutes passed before it occurred to him that he may need to go check on the boy the Pittman family entrusted to his care.

Of course, Will couldn't be bothered to talk TO Latroy. No, he simply walked up, poked a trainer on the shoulder, asked her a question and jogged away.

LSU continued exhibiting the kind of well-led honor that any decent coach would instill in his players by approaching Latroy once he was on the cart and expressing their sympathies. Indeed after two dozen LSU players had done so a few Gators broke ranks and showed they could learn from a good example by doing the same.

So I would like to thank Les Miles for improving the lives of roughly a dozen Gators more in 5 minutes than Will Muschamp had done in YEARS.

We lost again. We turned the ball over a lot and stuck with a QB who lacks improvement again. We got tired made bad mistakes on defense late again, and relied on desperation plays to keep it close again.

But more importantly we responded to our fellow man going down by ignoring him and using his injury as a long timeout to yell at defenders who just watched a friend, roommate, teammate get hurt.

Fire Will Muschamp, Jeremy Foley. If not for being a bad head coach who can't win enough games, then do it for the better reason. Fire him for failing to be a leader of men. Fire him because he lacks the respect for an injured player that over 80,000 other people possessed in that stadium. Fire him because he's a bad human being.

Thank you again Les Miles and the LSU Tigers. I hope one day we might again contribute to the class of the SEC. You helped our young men learn about class tonight. Your fans should be proud of you. I'm proud to have seen you and your 70+ men. Good game and goodnight.

Haven't thought about that. Must feel extra shitty to get chewed out by your head coach when one of your buddies might be paralyzed on the field.

Had florida been winning/won that game, this post never would have been made

The guy is just not a leader. I don't think he's a bad person, but he clearly gets tunnel vision, which is most likely caused by him having his head up his arse.

That was really long and I didn't read most of it, but I will say this:

I was extremely impressed with how the LSU players handled themselves in the wake of Pittman's injury. Class all the way, Tigahs.

Les Miles preaches respect to the opponent. He has the respect of every coach he goes up against (except for Bobby Petrino) because of it, and his players buy into it.

You should. It's actually a very valid point, something all fans should consider when they look at their coaches.

Maybe it's due to job security, or maybe it's hokey old-school sensibilities; but Les Miles does a lot of things the right way at LSU. If you watched to the end of the broadcast, he was front and center with the team, singing the LSU alma mater to the band and fanbase. He does this after every home game, facing the student section. I really wasn't aware they did it at road games too, but it doesn't surprise me.

I was extremely surprised by Muschamp and the Florida team. My son, who played some high school sports, also noticed and remarked on it. Just didn't seem right.

edit to add: I was very impressed that our players would come up and offer the Florida player on the cart a fist-bump, which he returned. I found it odd that there were no Gators around him while he was down, and that the Tiger players seemed more interested in his condition. I found it even odder that after the Tigers offered him those fist-bumps, a couple of Gators then came over to do the same- and were run off by their staff, back to the sideline. That seemed, really, a little shameful. I didn't like it, and wouldn't want my kid in that type of program.

Who the frick is happy with muschamp is the real question!! He needs to get suited up, with his Armani boots, part the hair on his 5head, and go jump off of a building on to glass shards, raught iron, concrete boulders, and just for good sport, 1500 or so HIV positive syrenges...

You're welcome gators

I noticed this too. The LSU players were way more compassionate. Driskel made a half assed effort to jog out to his fallen team mate 10 minutes after the incident.

If driskel came to om, he would have to custom fit the bench to fit his arse because that's where he would be until graduation

I'm not one bit surprised at what the LSU players did because that's what miles teaches above all else, class. I am surprised the gator players didn't make an ounce of effort.

I wasn't surprised to see the LSU players do that..they've done it many times. I was shocked to see no Florida guys around him though. That was just terrible. Imagine being that guy on the stretcher and getting fist bumps from the opponents but no team mates.
