Passing Game

Nick Marshall clearly is throwing better than last year. Let's not kid ourselves into thinking he is elite though. He gets the job done when given time and makes time with his feet. He may not win with his arm but his dynamic ability can when given the opportunity.

Wide receiver play boils down to Duke then Just Auburn Being Auburn. Bray looks more reliable but Coates, Ricardo and everyone else might as well be chalked up to a drop of down. Melvin Ray has disappeared after a promising start receiving and blocking. Someone needs to step up opposite of Duke to bail Marshall out.

Run Game

CAP is the right RB in the wrong system. The kid can block, catch and read the holes like a pro. Problem is when there are no holes to find and his patience leaves him bumping into a clusterfrick. He doesn't seem to have Tree Masons ability to glide through traffic

Corey Grant is hard to read as he seems to have disappeared a la Melvin Ray. His usage outside garbage time seems to be on the decline from what I have seen. He doesn't seem overly effective between the tackles and between him and NM as oppossing teams focus on perimeter run game.

Roc Thomas looks promising and seems to spin through traffic effectively. Ball security issues coupled with pass blocking could be holding him bac .

Peyton Barber , is he still on the team? Fug

OL

Our OL is not what it was last year but 4/5 seem to at least be adequate to perfor . Slade is awful and consistently has given up sacks, TFL and tipped passes at a higher rate than anyone else. Add in a HBack who doesn't seem capable of making a proper assignment and our blocking is terrible. Danzey isn't great but okay. Coleman makes mistakes but definitely serviceabl . Young looks good at RT

Statistically he's worse than last season. He finished last season around 59% right now he's around 54%

In all fairness gene said throwing better. He said nothing about completing better.

I really don't have an answer for you, I have been disbarred before for providing false testimony.

Your honor, the defense does not fault the OP. One would logically think that given a year to improve Mr. Marshalls accuracy should indeed be better however the facts do not lie. The defense rests your honor.

I would say his passes are better but decision making, specifically throwing it to Sammie or Ricardo, has been bad.

NM has been inconsistent as far as accuracy. Best receivers have been Duke and Bray. Other than LSU game, Coates has been mia. Where is Rsy and why has he not been playing? We lack a running game regardless of the statistics. I respect our coaches but in sometimes think they're blowing smoke when they highly praise players who rarely play. Or their over the top compliments about Nick's improvement. Af mid season, our concerns and issues continue

CAP is a Solid back but should not be our workhorse.

Rays disappearance has been most perplexing due to his blocking abilit .

Nick makes throws enough to move the chains though. He isn't a world beater but it shouldn't be too much to ask a D1 WR to catch a damn pas .

I want JJ only because if our WRs drop 1/2 passes at least JJ is gifted enough to have 2 catchable balls in 4 downs

I wish Nick was a better passer, but people can't discard all of the great things he does with his legs when analyzing his play.

You nailed CAP. He is a solid all around back, but isn't explosive and lacks the ability to create positive plays when the holes don't open up.

I don't think anyone is disregarding Nick's other skills, we are just realizing that our offense is setup to be more effective passing than it is running this year given how weak our run blocking is on our interior line.

This fails to consider how teams would defend us differently if we had JJ at QB.
