I just realized what everyone was talking about on the INT in the endzone

For whatever reason I haven't really watched the play very closely......OMG. At the VERY least Howard should have stuck his mitts out and dropped it...OMG.

I know this thread is weak, and offers nothing productive. I'm just honestly blown away by that play now that I've watched it again.

It did appear that he could've made a better effort to come up with the catch(let alone keep the DB from getting the INT). I thought it was a pretty good throw considering the situation.

Oh well, on to Arky.

He could have head butted the ball away from the DB. And the pass couldn't have been in a better spot.

But yes, on to the next one

guess he taught them not to throw to him only once in 3 games. when he wants the ball, give him the ball or else

Now you see why I was complaining and him and his performance and getting in fights with chatta.

The ball was a good throw, a gamble; but a good throw.

OJ was just lazy. He saw the guy over the top covering the outside third. Anyone who has played db or wr on collegiate level KNOWS you never hang your head back, slow down and to always high point the ball.

Instead of that he does every bad thing coaches teach you not to do and that allows a midget to take the ball right from him.

If he at least gives a better effort, nobody is melting down and instead of our AJ and some fans tearing our team apart, we're likening this win to Mount Cody vs Rocky Drop.

high point the ball.

All I can see in my head right now is a TE running that route, striding with his left foot and planting his right foot in the ground as he goes up and snags/drops the ball. All the while the tiny arse DB is completely behind him and shielded from even making a play. Then the announcers point out the obvious..."Boy that just isn't fair! Howard, at that size, just isn't coverable in that position!!!!!!"

Wasn't even half upset at the loss. I'm still not, couldn't be more excited to watch the team play each week. But this play has me all kindsa fricked up right now.

He threw into double coverage, that's never a good choice.

If he throws to his inside Howard catches it easy, but he thew the ball behind him a tad, Howard had to adjust to the balls path before leaping for it, you can't leap and change directions easily ( unless you're Jordan ) if we win out we are champions, if not we aren't wothy of the moniker, simple.

OJ needs a reality check. He's soft but has all the ability and tools to do something about it. He's not going up against a bunch of 5'6" 145 lb whitey DBs like he did in HS. He's playing with grown men now who don't want to share. With the drops he's had and the outright punking on that play, I can't blame Blake or Jake for not wasting throws his way til he gets it together .

This thread is unhealthy, I had moved on.

But that play was just one of many we didn't make in the 4th quarter. Second straight SEC loss where we just didn't finish or make plays to protect a 4th quarter lead. Not what we're used to seeing under Saban.

It was a good pass. Any ball that hits you in the hands in the endzone should be a catch

The ball was thrown right to him. You can't expect every pass to be perfect.

All he had to do was show effort. Blaming any QB for not throwing the perfect pass when the receiver in question couldn't even give the right effort is misguided in my opinion.

Now if Blake doesn't throw him passes, would anyone blame him? When you leave your QB out to dry dropping two passes which killed two drives, holding, then allowing a well thrown ball to be intercepted? I know I wouldn't be eager to.

Just goes to show you there's more too football than being tall and fast. You've still got to make plays when they present themselves.

5 star-itus.

I can't believe anybody would fault Sims for throwing that ball. It wasn't in the 1st quarter or anything, had to take a chance in the situation we were in and frankly that was as good a ball to a reasonably open receiver as any we were likely going to get thrown to the endzone.

True, the pass would have been catchable, if it wasn't thrown into DOUBLE COVERAGE.

No recever expects his qb to throw into double coverage, so Howard was trying to keep his feet in and watch the nall into his hands.

If he knows another guy is behind him of course he goes in hard to at least break it up.

The QB whom I like a lot shouldn't have thrown into double coverage, Coop was wide open on the side line for 15 yards, the Simma inexperience showed as he tried to force it into double coverage.

He simply misjudged the ball ....one of many mistakes on the day for OJ.

Enough of this.

OJ had BEAT the double coverage. There was a small window and OJ WAS OPEN. If he just showed EFFORT it would have been a touchdown. The ONLY reason it was intercepted was because of OJ's effort.

Also that was not Coop that was D.White and he was NOT OPEN. He had a guy under the pass. Had Blake thrown that, he would have had to throw high and D.White was already injured; who knows if he would have came down with it.

Those aren't my opinions, those are the actual facts.

Go and re-watch it a couple times. If you didn't see it the first time, you will after a while.

Like I said earlier, this play was just one of many plays that we're used to making that we just didn't make in the 4th quarter. What if Yeldon doesn't get tripped up half a yard short on third down when we were up 7 with 7 minutes left? What if we don't fumble the kick return? What if we don't leave receivers wide open in the endzone on 3rd down? There's plenty of blame to go around. It's far more concerning that this is the second straight SEC loss that we didn't finish and make a play or two in the 4th quarter like we always have under Saban. That's a bigger deal than whether or not OJ was open or whether or not he made the best effort to grab the ball.
