As always this list chronicles the top SEC running backs by production on the field to date for the current season. Objective statistics are the primary criteria utilized in formulating this list, however, the statistics are set into context based on the quality of opponent upon which the statistics were accumulated. In some instances where the choice is close, a subjective eye test is also taken into account. However, hype, injuries, suspensions, etc. are not. This isn't a list of most talented or a prediction of NFL draft status. It is just an unbiased look at which 5 SEC RB's are getting the job done the best on the field. As such, this list will likely drastically change each week, especially early in the season.
Note: This list only looks at performance at the RB position. Thus, kick and punt return yardage aren't part of the evaluation. However, receiving out of the RB position is accounted for.
1. Todd Gurley - Remains number 1 by comfortable margin. However, Robinson and CAP have a chance to make up some ground with big games this weekend.
2. Josh Robinson - A solid number 2, but one bad game and CAP and Collins will pass him easily.
3. Alex Collins - tough call here as CAP has better production overall. However, Collins has been more efficient and edges out CAP this week.
4. Cameron Artis-Payne - He has lacked the explosive runs needed to get him higher than 4th on this list. I predict he gets a few in the 4th quarter this week.
5. Mike Davis - After a slow start to the season, Mike Davis has been coming on strong and sneaks into the top 5 this week to provide SC fans with a bright spot for the season.
Worth a mention:
Matt Jones, Johnathan Williams, TJ Yeldon, and Russell Hansborough.

Out of curiosity, do you take passing production into account?

Yes, though not heavily weighed in the over all consideration.

You should make a blog, then you can get press credentials to all the games. Ya never know, could turn into a new career path for you.

Once chicken decides to add legitimate journalism and jettisons Larry Leo and that failed politician, I'm going to step in to fill the minute void they leave.

Do you take emotional leadership into account? If so, Yeldon should be top 3 apparently

They don't have to be current SEC RBs?

Yeldon doesn't get more love for putting up 130 yards of total offense against the Ole Miss defense on the road?
Interdasting.
Interdasting.

Gurley should be ruled ineligible for this list until we see how UGA's Compliance Dept. fricks this one up.

funny how auburn ridicules UGA so much for being such a crappy program, yet they cheer the loudest when our best player is out...
seems pretty insecure to me.
