That Gus was just fricking with us against SJSU and LaTech?

I truly believe the reason we didn't pull away from KSU is because KSU just had a really good scheme against us.

But the two other OOC games? I think Gus was just scheming. Working on plays. Practicing. Giving teams looks on film that would create a tendency on their defense.

Come on, negas... do you REALLY think Gus doesn't know enough about offense to rack up yards and points satisfactory to you against weak OOC opponents if he wanted to?

Nah... he was fricking with us, y'all.

(P.S. Oh, and having Avery Young back at RT helped a frick-load too. )

It looked like he was running the same plays over and over until we got them right but man I was pissed when it was a two TD game going into the 4th against a terrible La Tech.

Sorta but no.

He did what needed to be done and moved on. He did not seem to upset at the play so I was Ok with it. I dont see Gus as a guy who can hide his emotions. LOL

I honestly think the team gets up some weeks and they just go through the motions on other weeks. They were up yesterday...

We have lots of potential on offense. I think there is a lot we are yet to see

Oh, and are the JJ supports still ready to bench Nick. Nick balled out yesterday. He is a cool customer and is a lot of the reason our team has been successful the past two seasons

This deserves its own thread

I was thinking about it.

But I decided this one was enough for my part.

I just think the team is improving from week to week. It happened every week last year. I hope it is more of the same this year.

So sure someone could lie but it seemed believable. A guy on reddit said he knew someone on the 2010 team who said in cupcake games, Gus made Cam look off his first option every single play

Might be what Gus has been doing, although LSU might be the biggest cupcake we've played so far

I said it in a different thread, but Gus can get extremely conservative when he sees his team go thru some hard tests. KSU was one. Thurs night away game. Defense played well. Offense struggled to get in sync. Once we got up on them, he was happy to just get out of there with a W and move on. Our second and third drives of the second half both ate up 5+ minutes of clock. That is not really a staple of Gus' offense unless it's a blowout.

I said all along that it was part of the plan and Gus is a master troll. You can search through my posts from the those gamedays if you want

I also noticed that Gus never got cute with his playcalling this week either. The only time I remember seeing Quan Bray in the wildcat was the trick play that had Jeremy Johnson throwing the ball....... Which kinda tells me that maybe he did all that cutesie garbage just to set up that one play this week.... Hmm.

He shut down the play calling after the half, which should make that blowout even more embarrassing for LSU

I can agree with this. I also think he tried to force the offense into playing well by running things over and over. Like a superpractice

I don't think this was the case against KSU, but I think its definitely true against the other two cupcakes.

Case in point, the slant to Duke that Marshall missed.........same play back to back was just like Malzahn saying "No bitch you do it again and you do it RIGHT this time"

Gus went right back to the dives in the third and fourth quarters just like earlier in the year. He is trying to toughen up the front and work on opening holes in the middle of the line. From our seats in the endzone you could tell Nick was not reading the defense, straight dives all around, until Gus decided to put up the second half touchdown.
